Tasted by burg++23 on 5/23/2023 & rated 92 points: Advanced but still drinkable, deep golden color. Wax and honey on the nose (553 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 12/30/2019 & rated 93 points: Nose of flowers with red apples, some nutty elements. Drinking well but the mature, slight oxidative note points towards the end of the life cycle of this wine. (2494 views)
Tasted by Burgnick on 11/26/2019 & rated 93 points: Nose was rich with hazelnut, sesame, and honey. Palate was rich and powerful with layers and complexity. The bottle tonight showed extremely well in Leflaive Grand Cru quality. Very alluring and charming. 93-94 (1954 views)
Tasted by redders on 6/14/2017 & rated 93 points: Another good bottle! Mature but still bright colour with some green notes. Classic mature classy burgundy nose. Great depth and complexity. Rich on palate butter and meadow grass mineral clean finish. The joy of non poxed mature white burgundy. Delicious (2874 views)
Tasted by Fausto_Coppi on 4/16/2017 & rated 90 points: Well balanced, fully mature, dry white which has matured well but may have passed it's peak. Very enjoyable nevertheless (2897 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 3/1/2017 & rated 93 points: Dinner with Zachys crew (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Fully mature nose displaying decadent yellow pit fruit, a lot of butter scotch, smoke, sesame, sweet spices, oyster shell and limestone. Fully integrated palate, ripe yellow fruit and butter scotch driven palate impression, bright acidity, nice mineral expression and a medium to long finish with a hint of burnt sugar at the end. Perhaps gently declining but still very enjoyable. (3737 views)
Tasted by wxch2002 on 10/21/2016 & rated 94 points: I comp[letely agree with Rayob that when you get a bottle that is not oxidised you realise what all the fuss is about with top white Burgundy. I bought this on release and found this botle when having a tidy of the cellar. I assumed it would be "cooking wine" but it looked ok through the green glass bottle. On opening it was a beautiful golden hue and perfumed nose. No hint of the usual gunflint (my wife calls it "rabbit dog food"!!) presumably because all the reduction had gone. Very lovely attack and good fruit but I felt the glycerol had died a little- hence not a higher score. If you can find a good one rejoice that it is still alive and providing pleasure. (2206 views)
Tasted by TWSA on 6/4/2016 & rated 88 points: Food: Italian @ Grissini Grand Hyatt
Condition: Perfect
Duration: 2.5 hours
Aroma: sesame, white flowers, hint of butter
Notes: I did not like this Pucelles very much, I am not sure if it would improve further if I opened it for longer as I thought both the aroma and the palate remained quite closed when I drank it. Therefore not much comment I can make on this wine. (2620 views)
Tasted by redders on 5/30/2015 & rated 93 points: Developed colour but still with a steely glint which was encouraging. Glorious nose, not a hint of oxidation, rich buttery some nuts but a steely mineral element giving lift. Rich and buttery on palate but great acidity and structure . Fully ready but good bottles will last but who knows! If only they were all like this. (2350 views)
Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 5/5/2015: Rich orchard fruits with some butter and toast. Good volume and real elegance. Outstanding length. (2443 views)
Tasted by RayOB on 2/12/2015 & rated 93 points: Drank at Davy's
Isn't it wonderful when you get a bottle of old Burgundy that is not Oxidised and is just singing. It restores your faith in the region and hope that you will get lucky again. This was just lovely. (2515 views)
Tasted by Eric on 12/18/2014: A great dinner at Capella in DC (Washington DC): Wow, what a wine. A bit of a deep color. Butterscotch and minerals on the nose. Salty, fresh and spiny palate. Drinking gorgeously! (3713 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 12/18/2014 & rated 92 points: Holiday Bordeaux Dinner with Eric - 82, 89 & 90 FGs among others (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Fully mature, smoke, butter scotch, ripe yellow pit fruits, sesame and oyster shell. Good concentration, ripe smoky yellow fruit driven palate impression, good acidity and medium finish. The middle palate is hollow. This is starting to fade a bit. Drink up based on this example. 94 point nose and 90 point palate. (3517 views)
Tasted by Caruso on 11/16/2014 & rated 93 points: Cellared under perfect conditions since release. Deep gold coloured, complex nose with toasty peech and apricots smell. Similar flavors, great poise, nice acidity to put everything into shape and very good length. Of course it could not get any better. No further aging is to be recommended. But in a good cold cellar it could probably last for some years. If it would not be for the prices... (1789 views)
Tasted by walkerjfw on 5/7/2014 & rated 93 points: Burgundy dinner @ Serenade in Chatham: Second white of the evening. Medium gold color. Nose showed a flinty minerality and an oily petrol (Riesling-like). Mid Palate was rich with baked apples, pears, quince, lemons, white flowers. Strong minerality on the finish

Excellent wine - aged well. Classic Leflaive balance and elegance (2843 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 5/3/2014 flawed bottle: Wine Tasted at Acker Auction (Marea - New York NY): Slightly corked. (2840 views)
Tasted by jhngo on 4/9/2014 & rated 97 points: Sweet mineral nose great mouthfeel with a fleshiness. Amazingly long finish. Wow (1910 views)
Tasted by Paul S on 2/1/2013 & rated 93 points: Dinner with Anthony Hall (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon): This was quite a remarkable wine. I am quite sure there was a whiff of cork taint on it, but it was still such a strong showing that the entire table enjoyed this tremendously. There was no mistaking this for anything but a Leflaive Puligny on the nose, with its typical notes of ripe apples wed to earthy mineral and gunflint aromas, and then reams of spice and a little flowery accent trailing behind. But for a little bit of rubber and wet cardboard that floated around, it was a really arresting bouquet. The palate was lovely too - rich, velvety, with not quite enough depth and power to be a Grand Cru, yet enough for us to pick it out as most possibly a Les Pucelles. This showed the ripest apple flavours with juicy lemons following on the mouth-filling midpalate, all interlaced with truffles, spice, and an underground stream of mineral and earth. While not exactly a zippy wine, there was a decent amount of freshness on it as well. The puzzling suggestions of cork taint peeked out amidst the long, minerally finish again unfortunately. But that aside, this was an excellent 1er Cru. It had no pretensions towards the Montrachet plots, but boy was it a solid Puligny. Taint aside, I would say it is drinking very well now. (4105 views)
Tasted by City Wine Journal on 2/2/2012 & rated 92 points: Auction bottle, held 8 months. Reticent, but able to be coaxed, and sign off as a very nice Leflaive. Medium full, brighter than the 1999, not as balanced or as profound, but nearly as long. Improved with time, did not fade. Excellent Chardonnay, especially this age. (3751 views)
Tasted by winecowboy on 11/11/2011 & rated 92 points: Trademark Leflaive elegance. Lemon infused white flower scent. Good showing of minerality yet not overbearing in weight. Can never fault Leflaive. (3299 views)
Tasted by Lord Rayas on 11/9/2011 & rated 93 points: Uncle 7 dinner with DC, GK, DW and a few others (Wine Vault): toasty and tangy with beautiful minerality. just got better and better in the glass. (4016 views)
Tasted by cortoncharlie on 11/9/2011 & rated 92 points: Dinner with Lord Rayas, winecowboy, Gianfranco Zola, jpijg and a few others (Hong Kong Winevault): From Leflaive's UK importer and this was in great shape with no premox issues. Still very youthful in appearance and mouthfeel. Needed a good 30-45mins of air to get going and continued to open up and gain weight over 2 hours. Not especially big and powerful but classic balance and elegance. You have to admire the consistency of leflaive (4170 views)
Tasted by reichken on 6/8/2011 & rated 91 points: gold color, developed nose, bit tight when opened with a mix of lemons and touch of sherry, after an hour in the glass the nose is more leflaive and the flavor nice honey toast and lemons. not the most giving of PM from leflaive but a nice wine (2871 views)
Tasted by fclarity on 2/12/2011 & rated 91 points: This wine, tasted blind, had a medium yellow center with clear rims. The medium intensity nose improved with air to show egg shell, citrus, and unripe apricots.

In the mouth the wine was quite rich, with good acidity and good length. You have to love that fat Leflaive mid-palate.

While it showed reasonably well after about 3 hours of air, I am not sure it had enough time to develop in the glass. I would opt for aging this 5 to 10 more years to allow for greater complexity to develop. I would rate this 91 right now and I would expect it to improve by a few points that time. (2770 views)
Tasted by reichken on 9/12/2010 flawed bottle: slightly over the hill
just no real leflaive to it (3138 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
