Tasted by ericindc on 5/15/2024 & rated 94 points: Drinking beautifully. Brilliant nose that was really similar to an aged white burg. However it was full of apple, white peach, light almond, some light sweetness as well. Just lightly aged notes, no strong browning fruit, some light bitterness for interest and really good acidity. Very enjoyable. A well stored bottle should probably last another 10 yrs. (168 views)
Tasted by Adrc on 11/16/2019 flawed bottle: Oxidized (2254 views)
Tasted by gbanks on 8/21/2019: Well this has held up beautifully and paired with the porchetta rather well. A nose that still thinks its burgundy, but remains so light and lithe on the palate despite the power in there. Deep russeted tones, asian pear, thyme, mineral. Very nice acid, well balanced, food friendly and an intriguing little wine. (1977 views)
Tasted by Cholera on 12/21/2018 & rated 92 points: Nerdy nice CDP in blanc varietal. Not nearly as food forward, smooth and very delicate sucky balance. (2278 views)
Tasted by RichD2 on 8/26/2017 & rated 93 points: This wine was well received in the restaurant shared with 5 others at the table. Deep yellow color, white flower, lemon, stony nose. Medium full body with nice flavor intensity, great combined minerality and acidity balanced on the long finish. Very nice wine. I suggest drinking in the next year or two. (3072 views)
Tasted by RichD2 on 4/30/2017 & rated 92 points: Very interesting wine. Light honey color. Nose a bit floral, stony. Medium body with strong minerality and just a hint of sweetness. Drinking fairly nicely now but should likely drink these soon. (3070 views)
Tasted by gbanks on 2/12/2017: Fantastic. A rich Chardonnay like nose, but then those russeted southern white grape notes. Long long mineral finish. Simply beautiful right now, and enjoyed immensely with lobster and scallops a l'americane. (2319 views)
Tasted by Kirk Grant on 2/11/2017: Really in a lovely place...the fruit and acidity offer a balance on the palate while floral notes soar out of the glass into the nose. A great pairing with Lobster bisque... (2394 views)
Tasted by mdfuller on 9/18/2016 & rated 92 points: this is amazing ... such a full mouthful. acid, fruit and something more. probably one of the most interesting non-chard white wines that i have tasted in many moons. drink w/ food. it's acid is pretty high so food is necessary. truly amazing - approach w/ an open mind and you will not be disappointed. (2406 views)
Tasted by Hypersphere on 4/25/2016 & rated 89 points: in an odd place right now - most of the floweriness is gone, and doesn't stay long in mouth, just some basic acidity. will wait for the next taste (2214 views)
Tasted by mmcdds on 3/28/2016 & rated 94 points: This was extraordinary tonight and consistent with previous notes. (2032 views)
Tasted by tim m on 12/31/2015 & rated 93 points: Really big white wine. Very nice if paried right, but will be overwhelming if not. (2192 views)
Tasted by Veg on 8/30/2015 & rated 92 points: Lovely stuff. Drinking really well. Plenty of life left. (2572 views)
Tasted by mmcdds on 8/16/2015 & rated 93 points: Wow!! This was exceptional tonight with rich, penetrating flavors of tropical and stone fruit, some melon, some anise, some subtle petrol notes, firm minerality, abit of lemon curd and perhaps some honey undertones befor the long finish. Quite nice. (2296 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/26/2015: Kinda bananna on the nose but great on the palate. Actually lots of cream and salt. 40% Clariette, 40% Grenache blanc. Savory and powerful palate. (2526 views)
Tasted by mmcdds on 2/11/2015 & rated 94 points: This was stunning tonight. Rich, unctous, stone and tropical fruits with some melon lurking in the backround. There's firm minerality, some nutmeg and a brisk, acidic core. For me this was in a really good place tonight and was drinking really well with an hour or so of air. (2720 views)
Tasted by jnewman77 on 11/13/2014: Delicious! A great nose of honeyed pear, peach, marzipan, fresh cut hay, lily. The palate is unctuous and rich with stone fruit, honey, ginger, and floral hints. The finish is rich and almost coats your tongue with flavors of stone fruit and and marzipan. Quite tasty. Definitely a rich and unctuous wine, but fresh enough to be quite delicious. (2680 views)
Tasted by Grinner on 9/13/2014 & rated 93 points: PHMG WAG: Tour de France 2014 (Chateau Lyon): Light gold color, this wine has a nice viscous mouthfeel compared to some of the previous wines in this tasting. Stone fruit, tropicals, floral, almond, and minerals persist nicely. Would love to try this again in 2-3 yrs. (3416 views)
Tasted by gsquireh on 8/28/2014 & rated 95 points: Subtle and different flavors and textures of vanilla, baking spice, and peach are enveloped by Bartlett pear's sweet mellow flavor; by the sweetness of Golden Delicious apple and by the richness and complexity of Cox apple- finish is complex with rounded and smooth mouth feel. The 2010 is the best vintage of Vieux Télégraphe blanc and for all white Rhone. Paired with many courses at 1826 Restaurant in South Beach, along with 2007 Opus. (2705 views)
Tasted by winelover1808 on 5/18/2014 & rated 92 points: really enjoyable - perfect high acidity, mineral driven compliment with a dinner that featured raw scallops thinly sliced and cooked chilled abalone. a great wine that I will def try to buy more of! (3112 views)
Tasted by Kirk Grant on 5/11/2014: Color: light golden yellow
Smell: tropical fruits, white pepper, pear, with an underpinning of mineral & floral notes
Taste: pear, pineapple, kiwi, quince, and other exotic fruits
Overall: This is a wine of brilliance, power, and enormous potential framed by grace and restraint. Medium body, high acidity, medium+ fruit, with impeccable balance & structure. Outstanding!!!! (2775 views)
Tasted by mnoljo on 1/18/2014 & rated 92 points: - Amber color - Waxy white fruit. Long finish. perhaps it is a better summer wine? Sad it is my last bottle. (2905 views)
Tasted by winelover1808 on 12/28/2013 & rated 91 points: popped and poured. needed 10 minutes to start to open and became more expressive every minute it warmed up. this is delicious and complex. made the mistake of pouring this after a huge Dumol chard. as it opened it gained more floral notes, great balance of acidity, minerality. has nice long finish and good weight in the mouth. this is a great bottle of wine - just need to start on this and move to a CA chard so its sets the palate accordingly. (2724 views)
Tasted by Hypersphere on 11/10/2013 & rated 92 points: same as last time (last week…) I should now stop drinking these and lay the remaining ones for a few years.
A very balanced wine as I said (2852 views)
Tasted by Hypersphere on 11/8/2013 & rated 92 points: Young and fresh, with the potential to age. Pear and citrus dominate, with a lot of minerality on the after taste.
A keeper (2418 views)

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
