Tasted by Oldmanzin on 1/10/2024 & rated 94 points: Great balance and depth. The 40% Clairette adds a lovely richness without being too heavy. Enough acidity is present to keep it fresh and lively. Great juice. (394 views)
Tasted by jgreco on 12/23/2023: Closed. Needs time. (346 views)
Tasted by Head4Heights on 6/21/2023 & rated 92 points: A 50mm natural cork enclosure kicks this story off. Lemon yellow in colour (the flesh, not the skin). Med(+) intensity on the nose, pronounced intensity on the palate that isn’t immediate. It kicks in. A full body, med(+) acidity and a good length that has a profile, like the intensity, that builds before leaving a trace of acidity - a little lack of balance imho. Flavour-wise: lemon, honey, vanilla and whote stone fruit. Similar in style to a Chassagne Montrachet, a Meursault or even a GG Riesling. A nice drop though. (684 views)
Tasted by Wellsmanitou on 3/5/2023: Vanilla forward (841 views)
Tasted by Rasmussenbrent on 2/27/2023 & rated 93 points: this bottle is drinking great right now!! 1st time having and wish i had more (829 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 12/7/2022: Commanderie des Costes du Rhone - Fall 2022 Intronization (Aquavit): Served this very chilled which definitely helped to give the impression of acidity (not sure it has much in general). The chill though made the wine a bit more muted and quiet. Get a touch of honey. (1307 views)
Tasted by Callum's Corkers on 2/25/2022 & rated 93 points: Bought House of Townend, UK. £60.00 Jan 2022

Decanted in fridge half hr at least

Label detail: 'Famille Brunier' on the front; La Crau was mentioned on the back.

N....interesting and seductive summer breeze (South of France) of dry brown herbs; an apricot and peach orchard somewhere up-wind; roasted almonds (skin on); touch of salt; yellow apple skin. Gorgeous.

C...oddly advanced gold, for a 5 yr old Rhone white with a rep' for longevity.

T....solid medium-bodied; a lovely core and essence of flavours; something of the 'old fashioned' style about it, 'agreeably eccentric' even?; some wood; some earthy dusty summer field/pebbles impression; near-dry in style rather than properly dry; summer's day thyme; a touch of marzipan with lemon drizzle; alc is obvious but seems in balance; well short of mature; big long flavours but a touch of elegance and restraint too; the back label says there is a "freshness" - well, not for me, there's acid, sure, but ''freshness''?, couldn't find it anywhere; a nice citrus lilt at the end, almost a star anise impression; again, the back label talks about ''depth'' - alright, there's plenty of depth. Big bold wine that whacks you, but with some elegance too. Classic stand-off: put this up agin' the Ch Beaucastel.

VFM?....cost £60.00, feels worth that. Clearly going to get better in the cellar. (1745 views)
Tasted by tedcholl on 1/3/2022 & rated 90 points: I enjoy drinking CdP Blanc occasionally, especially from an excellent producer. Interesting blend of Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc, and Roussanne. Med acidity, creamy but not oily, nice 13.5% abv. Minerals, stone, cream, white peach, saline. (1525 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 12/3/2021 & rated 92 points: Light yellow; white pear, light honey; creamy, honeyed with good acidity, broad aftertaste; not deep, not complex, but nice honeyed well-tasting texture (1510 views)
Tasted by acyso on 10/29/2021 & rated 90 points: "I wanna start clapping" (Chicago, IL): More than a few of us exchanged glances when this wine was brought -- most of the group is no fan of white Rhone. But we all would readily admit that this bottle was quite good. Fresh without the oily texture and with a surprisingly high amount of bright acidity to boot. This has good weight on the palate, but never becomes overbearing. (2231 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 10/29/2021 & rated 88 points: This is in the top 5% of white Rhones that I've encountered, as I'm not a fan of the style. Quite pleasant white fruits that are more fresh than waxy/oily and an airiness that provides freshness and lift that almost never shows up in this genre. (1738 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 9/5/2021 & rated 92 points: Light yellow; nose not that expressive, some citrus; light expression followed by some fatness, glycerin, acidity, slightly burning; like the honeyed wax-like cover in combination with good acidity (1193 views)
Tasted by beatles on 9/2/2021 & rated 92 points: Quite elegant and refined, this shows butter, brioche, garrigue and a very good balance and length. Still a very young wine.
#Marchal (1645 views)
Tasted by AP MD on 7/18/2021 & rated 94 points: Drank over a couple of hours with salmon and pasta. Straw colored. Dandelion, cut grass and mineral on the nose. Melon, faint tartness and almost buttery on the palate. Finish is fantastic! Great expression of a Rhone blanc! I gave it 92. My wife said 95+. Thus the compromise rating. (1122 views)
Tasted by Slaz on 6/13/2020: In contrast to some positive TNs I'm seeing here, my tasting experience is different. This is admittedly young, with over-the-top opulence and little complexity yet. Some breathing/decanting helps but only marginally. My main concern is relatively low acidity that falls short of balancing some fairly rich fruit here. I wasn't able to detect much promise; still, holding for few more years can only help. (2480 views)
Tasted by jgreco on 3/21/2020 & rated 98 points: The 2017 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc has a gorgeous nose of wet rocks, white flowers, lemon, and baking spices. Medium bodied, but with rich, concentrated flavors. There's perfect balance here, particularly with the acidity that binds everything together. This is the perfect summer white Rhône blend for when you get tired of Chardonnay. Great now with a decant, but I liked it so much I bought a case to age. (2531 views)
Tasted by csimm on 2/24/2020 & rated 91 points: Honeyed lemon, fresh ginger, pumice, quince, unripe white melon rind, pithy lemon seed, and some dry hay. Stayed pretty linear, even with a two hour decant. Finishes with promise, but generally constrained and somewhat bitter. Hold for now. 90-91+ points. Try again in a few years. (4427 views)
Tasted by djhammond on 9/2/2019 & rated 92 points: Drinking well already, but undoubtedly will continue to improve. There is a beautifully butteriness with fresh citrus flavours and a background of vanilla and caramel. All in all it is an excellent wine and good value for money. (2786 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 8/2/2019 & rated 93 points: Light hay yellow; honey vanilla with a bit of citrus; rounded with nice acidity and depth (2532 views)
Tasted by kosinski on 3/26/2019: Heady aromas of flowers, melon and tropical fruits. On the palate, melon, grapefruit, and almond pit flavors with good minerality and moderate acidity. Excellent structure and balance. Should be even better in a few years. (1804 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 11/20/2018: Quite lifted and floral, a touch of pith and some minerality; rich palate - a nice youthful vibrancy but perhaps this needs time for the balance to build. (1579 views)

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
