Tasted by davewr on 1/6/2022 & rated 90 points: Still hanging on but drink the entire bottle. Loses its fruit if recorked. Has some dark berries and earthy herbs. (324 views)
Tasted by davewr on 12/29/2020 & rated 91 points: Fruit is really revealing itself. Nice cherry, blueberry, huckleberry notes with hints of cocoa dust and sage. (469 views)
Tasted by herzog330 on 2/29/2020 & rated 91 points: Still has time. Tannins still quite present. Very nice and lots of cherry notes. (612 views)
Tasted by Marshmallowman on 1/11/2020 & rated 90 points: The 2008 Medlock Ames Cabernet Sauvignon Bell Mountain featured Cherry and Blackberry mid-bodied fruit flavors ... smooth and relaxed 😌 Cabernet with mild tannins. (637 views)
Tasted by wicozani on 2/27/2015 & rated 91 points: Opened this up out of our cellar and poured a taste and simply corked the rest on the counter. Opened again this evening, 5 days after initially opening, and has softened wonderfully with no signs of oxidation! By this measure this wine has a very long drinking lifetime ahead. Tonight (3/3/15) this features a deep well of blackberry, black currant, cassis and touches of oak spice and forest floor. Very much liked the character on day 5 versus day 1! (2122 views)
Tasted by pkavanagh on 10/24/2014 & rated 90 points: After Eights / mint on the nose, luscious black fruit on the palette. long finish. possibly in its prime right now. (2248 views)
Tasted by tkoby11 on 1/19/2014 & rated 87 points: Classic California Cabernet, medium to full bodied, the palate is classic, with pure and harmonious old school flavors and textures. #medlockames #alexandervalley (2590 views)
Tasted by austinbeeman- austinbeeman.com on 5/20/2013 & rated 90 points: Nose of red apple and black fruit. Wine tastes delicious with black cherry and nice acidity. Finish is a powerful beast with strong dark dry tannin.
Would love to revisit in a decade.

Tasted by WillT on 3/3/2013 & rated 89 points: I popped the cork and drank. Didn't decant or give it much time. Not what this wine needed. Still quite tight. I have one bottle left and I think I'm going to let it age for another year or so and see how it does. (3153 views)
Tasted by ihavezinned on 2/16/2013 & rated 87 points: overpriced @ $46 IMHO
nose: berry, cocoa powder, licorice
palate: alcohol bites, rustic berry, damp woods. bitterness on the meduim finish. nice acidity. (1842 views)
Tasted by famca on 9/7/2012 & rated 91 points: The rating is based in part on potential for improvement with cellaring. I intend to purchase some more and let it age. (2168 views)
Tasted by WillT on 4/29/2012 & rated 90 points: Decanted before drinking. Noe opend up with some time. A bit austere on the first sip, but opened up relatively early. Say after about 20 minutes. Really nice red current, blackberry and some leather. Nice backbone. I think it will mature gracefully. (1811 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
