Tasted by drjb on 11/26/2023 & rated 96 points: At a private dinner, Brisbane. This wine opened with a deep golden colour yet a fresh opulent nose of peach, apricot, pineapple, cinnamon butter and orange zest. The palate is truly opulent with layers of flavour balanced by toast with honey and butter and a clear mineral grip that persists beautifully. while this is no shrinking violet of a wine it is a fine expression of mature old vines Roussanne that stands up against and compliments rich dishes.  Tasted by jlgnml on 8/23/2023 & rated 97 points: Les Degustateurs last tasting for a dear friend (Smyth and the Loyalist Chicago, IL): While great to taste, the real experience came with the food. (710 views)
Tasted by fscov on 2/11/2023 & rated 98 points: Drink now! Amazing wine! (990 views)
Tasted by TEKinsider on 8/4/2022 & rated 99 points: I don’t know what else to say except this is truly amazing wine! It’s got a beautiful blend of Fruit, burnt toast, brioche, soft acidity and a beautiful finish. Drink it now because it’s not gonna get any better than this. (1424 views)
Tasted by dcwino on 4/20/2022 & rated 93 points: Early dinner gathering (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Expressive decadent nose displaying rich tropical yellow fruit, starfruit, pineapple, dry yellow peach, honey, caramel, sweet spices, lanoline, oyster shell and limestone. Excellent concentration, layers upon layers of sweet yellow fruit, rich, dense, deeply toned, and oily, medium acidity, strong mineral, and a long sweet yellow fruit driven finish with sweet spices and oyster shell at the end. Although very ripe, it shows fairly good balance. (2019 views)
Tasted by soyhead on 1/25/2021: tasted blind - heavy set, sharp bite, lots of butterscotch, and everyone down to the last soldier guessed Napa Chardonnay. the only clue was the oily quality that lead to some doubts. high alcohol. good cocktail wine, but in all honesty i cant get into white rhones. however they clearly have their fans. maybe next decade? (2489 views)
Tasted by Levantine on 11/29/2020: Still rocking (2057 views)
Tasted by GBFan on 6/6/2020 & rated 96 points: Superb. The nose is so exotic and gorgeous, and does not quit. The same wonderfully exotic quality is present on the palate. A unique and memorable wine. Curiously, I liked the flavor best when the wine was first opened. (2191 views)
 Tasted by Niagara on 5/22/2020 & rated 97 points: Mind-boggling. (2120 views)
Tasted by acheng on 7/3/2019 & rated 95 points: Really lived up to expectation and much better than last bottle. Outstanding floral oily and mineral. A three dimensional wine that is drinking fabulous. It even dared to outshine the guigal oree tonight. (2832 views)
Tasted by Levantine on 5/5/2019: Superb! (2273 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 12/17/2018 & rated 95 points: Weekly tasting group RWP #314; Mysterious theme: What could be Christmas wines….. (@ VD): Expressive bouquet with yellow tropical fruits and anise. On the palate full bodied, fat and very tasty, banana , vanilla from the oak and a lot of beautiful sweet impressions and also beautiful acidity and a great, enormous length. (2842 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 10/11/2018 & rated 94 points: Whites at Whiskey at Kaiseki Furukawa (Kaiseki Furukawa, Mpls, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. I didn't take many notes on this, but it was classic Beaucastel and lovely as expected; lush and textured, white stone fruit and lemon, oily with a beeswax quality. 93+ to 94pts. (2928 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 12/2/2017: Zachys Holiday Auction - Dec 2017 (Smith & Wollensky (48th & 3rd Ave)): Wow was this good. It was just firing on all of the cylinders. Opened and decanted (per some advice) and then drank throughout the day (although it was originally termed breakfast wine and I'm surprised it lasted). Lovely full mouthful with delicate white flowers and honey and a prettiness to it. Long finish. Delicious. (4204 views)
Tasted by retired_and_roving on 12/2/2017: Based on previous tasters notes, this was decanted and consumed over a couple of hours - with breakfast actually at the Zachy's holiday wine auction. I have had the opportunity to taste older vintages but this was the youngest I have tried, and I was quite impressed. Pretty nose reminds me of the smell when you walk into a Parisian bakery in the morning. On the palate creme brûlée and lemon custard just yummy and rich, a bit waxy and mouth coating. I thought it was awesome! (3038 views)
Tasted by Lord of the Bottles on 10/7/2017 & rated 95 points: Double decanted then chilled to constant 9C temperature. Initially a little green and tight, the wine hit its stride after nearly an hour. Nose a bit muted but palate danced around tangerine, orange, lemon, green apple, honeysuckle, tropical fruit, banana, banana caramel and a slightly oily texture on a very long finish. The balance and smoothness was impeccable. This was an example of restrained power: you can feel it and know it's there but it is at the same time delicate. I do get the sense true greatness is lurking somewhere beneath and either the wine is starting to enter a more closed state or my fish pairing wasn't ideal. 94-95 (3615 views)
Tasted by Lord of the Bottles on 9/30/2017 & rated 94 points: Pop n pour via Vinturi. Initially tight then opened up with honeysuckle nose and honeyed taste. Muted nose but a wide range of tates: honey suckle, wood, white peach, lemon curd, white flower, and even liquorice, which I have never tasted in a white wine before. There was some bitterness herb which might not be to everyone's taste. Super long finish. Delicate and sophisticated, it wasn't the best match for our powerful dark soya miso glazed salmon (my fault) so I can see a higher score if paired to white meat, fish or shellfish. Bracing acidity with a slight touch of oilyness. Still youthful with a long life. 93-94+ if it had been decanted and better paired or just drank by itself I can see a 95. (3313 views)
Tasted by Wigbert on 8/24/2017 & rated 94 points: Roussanne doesn't get much better than this. (3262 views)
Tasted by RJ&JJ on 1/26/2017 & rated 95 points: Superbly matched with Crab. Drinking very well right now. My wife is not a fan at all of white wine and loves this one. (3339 views)
Tasted by Ebrim on 12/10/2016 & rated 93 points: Clean m golden core, lemon rim, developing

Nose is medium intense aromas nutts honey honeysuckle lillies white pepper stonefruit developing

Paalate is dry with high acidity medium+ alcohol body and flavour intensity aromas honey nutts grape lemon red apples stonefruit oilly lavendel developing long finish

Well balanced with a bit high alcohol. Concentrated and solid intensity and deep complexity, outstanding quality with great potential for agening, 93p (3312 views)
Tasted by Niagara on 12/1/2016 & rated 95 points: Just exceptional. And defies a lot of conventional wisdom that CdP blanc is either insipid, not ageworthy, or both. This is terrific now and has a long time yet to go! (3099 views)
Tasted by Matsutake on 8/28/2016: Best vintage of this wine I have ever tried (I have 2005-2014 in the cellar). In fact one of the best whites I have ever had period. Not a 100 pointer because I need somewhere to go if it drinks better after a few years. That being said this was an incredible bottle showing perfect balance, elegance, complexity and length. Mind numbingly brilliant.
2011 is just a superb year for rhone whites. (4053 views)
Tasted by SonnyChiba on 3/30/2016 & rated 92 points: Always love the white wines from Beaucastel. This was really nice, and full of ripe fruits, with a lot of sweetness to it. Drank with a white burgundy though that had much more complexity, which out showed this wine. But overall, this was a delicious wine. (4007 views)
Tasted by la turque on 3/26/2016 & rated 96 points: Consistent notes. Glorious golden straw colour. Nose of quince, pear, honeysuckle and white flowers. Lovely mouthfeel, with a thick, oily, glycerin richness. Long finish. Beautiful fruit and impeccable balance. Drinking now (3014 views)
Tasted by MC2 Wines on 3/17/2016: Tampa Spring Break (the abridged version); 3/17/2016-3/18/2016 (Various Tampa locations (Mise en Place, Ocean Prime, etc.)): I always love this wine and this was no exception. Only about 500 cases are made every year. It's aged in a combination of stainless steel and small oak barrels. This is just rich and unctous and a total mouthful. Honeysuckle and glycerin and white flowers and a hint of lime. Softness in a glass. So elegant. Beautiful. One of my contenders for WOTN which is saying something given it's a white (I usually skew towards reds). (3681 views)

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
