Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 92.9 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 44 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Ghoulardi on 4/5/2024: Popped & poured, then consumed over 2 hours with dinner. This was initially a bit austere, but developed into a wonderfully open and rich bouquet. Last sip was the best sip. No hurry. (215 views)
Tasted by Horichdaslicht on 12/26/2022 & rated 94 points: Baked apples and cinnamon on the nose, fresh and generous on the palate with a savoury finish that lasts for minutes. I am glad it is not my last bottle. (801 views)
Tasted by Jd6725 on 6/3/2022 & rated 94 points: Lovely and rich. Shows just a touch of the warm vintage. So well balanced and ready to go. Could have upside for those that love older champs but for most people, no more need to age. Not quite as good for my palate as the 07/08 Grand Cellier d'Or. But the quality is clearly there and I don't regret the purchase. Looking forward to seeing if it evolves at all. (1139 views)
Tasted by Horichdaslicht on 6/2/2022 & rated 93 points: Pale gold. apples & water biscuit on the palate, a hint of cinnamon on on the nose and lively, lingering mousse. It has aged gracefully and I will be in no hurry to drink up my remaining bottles. (1139 views)
Tasted by jerhardt on 12/20/2020 & rated 91 points: Pretty consistent over the past few years. Moderately rich and starting to show early mature notes. A bit of that cinnamon spice. A good, but not great CdC. (2078 views)
Tasted by Elvis1969 on 5/18/2020 & rated 91 points: Magnum. Bra men inte så fantastisk som jag hade hoppats. Lite svag syra för att vara Coeur de Cuvée och lite sluten, trots att den fick mycket tid att öppna upp sig. (2464 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 3/21/2020 & rated 92 points: Light medium straw color. Drank several glasses over 3 hours. Finishing this up the next day, I'm find this a little more enjoiyable. However, I'm not saying that in terms of suggesting this needs more time. Initally, this seemed to be heavier and rather aggressive on the palate, draped in sour baked apples, mineral, quince spice, chalk and bitter apple peel with a caramel essence and citrus zest. Not at all toasty as others have also noted recently. The chalky minerality stands out, but the overall picture was a little oxidative, and this struck me as a bit older than I want it. I remember a bottle 2 years ago as much more elegant and nuanced. At any rate, still very good, but not the gem I was expecting. I'm also mindful of an underwhelming '02 we had recently that has me rethinking how far I want to age these. Day 1 91pts, day 2 92pts. (2351 views)
Tasted by Dave Canada on 3/16/2020 & rated 92 points: This was a bit of a disappointment.
So rich....lacking any real delicacy and finesse....a big hammer.
If you like rich fruit and limited autolysis and minerality...this is your champagne. (2051 views)
Tasted by Wine Canuck on 1/24/2020 & rated 93 points: My expectations for this were fairly high already, so while a lovely and enjoyable champagne I think I expected more. It pours a moderate straw yellow. There is a distinctness to the aromatics I've found on this cuvee in the past. I can best describe it as spiced apple and it's here in spades. The nose is of apple pie, cinnamon, pear, accented by hints of caramel sauce and mint. Not a ton of autolysis noted. The palate is just lovely. The high acidity this wine can show due to blocked malo isn't a problem and is balanced by well measured dosage (felt like a very reasonable 4 - 6 g/l). Apple and hints of caramel round out the moderate finish. (2832 views)
Tasted by jerhardt on 9/28/2019: Nice showing. Big, rich, and complex; not for fans of subtlety, but not overdone either. Firmly in it's drinking window, it will certainly hold, but not sure I see much upside. (1417 views)
Tasted by sfqwino on 6/7/2019 & rated 93 points: In a great place now. Complex and inviting. (1322 views)
Tasted by bps2266 on 11/23/2018 & rated 95 points: fully mature. rich, delicious, chocolate bass notes. finish forever. (1639 views)
Tasted by jerhardt on 10/7/2018 & rated 92 points: A good CdC, recognizable in its style of moderate richness and cinnamon spice. In a good place now, but no hurry. (1737 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 2/14/2018 & rated 94 points: Light medium gold color. Split bottle over 2 hours. Explosive bead, smoky, fine bead, very fine mineral nose, refined yeast, apple, toasty. The palate shows toast, smoke, apple, apple skin, toasted coconut, there is great energy and good length. A very good CdC. (2611 views)
Tasted by MBKDK on 1/17/2018: Huge improvement from my last bottle app. 2 years ago. Open for business with lots of complexity. Heavy style but good balance. Ready now! (2337 views)
Tasted by bps2266 on 1/2/2018 & rated 93 points: sweet brioche nose. still young and fresh but well integrated at this stage. impeccable balance. silk? velvet? quicksilver? you pick. flavor profile leans toward pinot with cherry and strawberry. great. (2053 views)
Tasted by Vinomark on 4/14/2017 & rated 94 points: So good & feels like fine grand cru Burgundy. (3130 views)
Tasted by LWI on 1/21/2017 & rated 90 points: Blind. Pronounced freshly baked bread, some lemon peel, mature yellow apples; Clearly a developed wine, medium plus acidity, more yellow apples, some bitterness In the finish. (3100 views)
Tasted by Snowryeder on 1/9/2017 & rated 93 points: Very nice, very young. (2458 views)
Tasted by Elvis1969 on 10/11/2016 & rated 91 points: En fantastisk flaska. Fint integrerad ek, bra syra, allt finns på plats redan. (2864 views)
Tasted by Elvis1969 on 7/25/2016 & rated 93 points: Provad på magnum. En typisk Coeur de Cuvée med underbar fatig näsa. Ung och fräsch fortfarande. (3078 views)
Tasted by ADiamond on 3/18/2016 & rated 95 points: Stunning wine, dry, full of floral and fruit (2247 views)
Tasted by Eric Guido on 12/15/2015 & rated 94 points: The Coeur de Cuvee showed a truly Burgundian nose with chalky minerals, crushed seashell, ripe pear and herbs, followed by notes of smoke, dusty dried flowers and green apple. On the palate, vibrant waves of acid-born textures rocked the senses while soothing bubbles displayed flavors of crushed flowers, spiced apple, and minerals, yet it remained supple and giving throughout. It finished dry on a saline and floral note, just begging for another sip. (2970 views)
Tasted by StageOneRacing on 8/12/2015 & rated 91 points: Loved this champagne, yeast, baked and fresh apple, brioche and later lemon squares. (2830 views)
Tasted by MBKDK on 5/8/2015: Somewhat one-dimensional at the moment. High acidity with a dominance of yeast, lemon and apple, but with slight hints on the back-end of what might come with time; fresh coffee beans, candied abricots, seaweed, soy and baked ryebread. A bit dissappointing performance compared to '99 and '03. However, this is still a very nice glass of champagne that I believe has all the right stuff. Just not fully developed yet. Let is sleep for 2-3 years + (2731 views)

France - When it comes to wine, France stands alone. No other country can beat it in terms of consistent quality and diversity. And while many of its Region, Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne most obviously, produce wine as rare, as sought-after and nearly as expensive as gold, there are just as many obscurities and values to be had from little known appellations throughout the country. To learn everything there is to know about French wine would take a lifetime. To understand and appreciate French wine, one only has to begin tasting them. Sub-Region:

Champagne - The French region of Champagne (including the cities of Rheims, Épernay, and Aÿ) was the first region in the world to make sparkling wine in any quantity. Today, the name of the region is synonymous with the finest of all sparkling wines, and wine-making traditions of Champagne have become role models for sparkling wine producers, worldwide. Surprisingly, the region of Champagne is now responsible for only one bottle in 12 of all sparkling wine produced. Styles of champagne range in sweetness ranging from an extra brut or brut 0, to the basic brut to demi sec to doux; some houses produce single vintage champagnes and others produce non-vintage (or incorporate wines/grapes of multiple vintages), often to preserve a specific taste; combinations of grape varietals; and colors, including a rosé. There are several sub-appellations, including the Valley of the Marnes river running from Épernay west, Massif de Saint-Thierry north and west of Rheims, Valley of the Ardre, the Mountains of Rheims (between Rheims and Épernay), Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Côte des Bar in the South. Champagne wine only uses three grape varietals (cépages): Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.
