Community Tasting Notes (average 90.3 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 18 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by AllRed on 2/26/2022: 4th Saturday Group Cellar Diminishment (Sue’s): Soft mousse. Generic and nondescript, adjectives which did not change when I revisited this later in the evening. I suspect this wasn’t a pristine bottle, as it just wasn’t giving up much of anything and should have been much better. (SS) (606 views)
Tasted by skaies on 11/17/2015 & rated 91 points: Endlessly drinkable California sparkling that pleases almost any palate and has one of the best bubble profiles among the Napa sparkling producers. Yellow with an ever so slight tinge of green, the aroma opens with pears and red apples, with an assertive toasty yeast characteristic. The taste is round and a touch rich, but not to the extend of the Le Reve or LD Le Reve. Always pick up about 3 of these for each Le Reve I purchase. Develops well over time. (1795 views)
 Tasted by Box57 on 8/4/2015: PAL = 3 (1719 views)
Tasted by christianminer on 6/14/2015 & rated 92 points: 2007 Late Disgorged Brut Cuvée offers enchanting aromas of fresh Meyer lemon and Red Delicious apple. On the palate, lush layers of ripe nectarines, classic crème brûlée, and cinnamon are served on a supple, richly integrated structure. (1787 views)
Tasted by pizzamaker on 4/28/2015 & rated 92 points: Beautiful color of wheat as it passes from pale green to light yellow several weeks before harvest. Fine persistent beads are mesmerizing. Aromatic profile is bread and yeast and bread and yeast and bread and yeast. Then some toast and toasted nuts. Incredibly, a very faint aroma of blueberry/blueberry pie appears as a secondary layer. Mouthfeel is very rich and smooth, almost creamy. Finish is long, smooth, if not a bit narrow. Definitely makes you reach for another pour. (1897 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 5/7/2014 & rated 91 points: A Brief Visit at Domaine Carneros (Domaine Carneros): Has a nice richness, with yeast, toasty apple, cashew and stone. Medium bead with almond, orchard fruit, vanilla cream soda and stone flavors. Impressive. 91+ pts. (2684 views)
Tasted by Poliosis on 9/17/2013 & rated 90 points: rich and layered. yeasty, a hint of lemon zest, pear. tiny bubbles, lovely dry finish, of course! (1604 views)

Champagne Blend

"Champagne blend" is a classic grape blend that typically includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and/or Pinot Meunier in any proportions.

However, this blend can also include Arbane, Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), Petit Meslier and/or Pinot Blanc as well.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson

Napa / Sonoma

SONOMA: The Yorkville Highlands AVA, approved in 1998, is located in the southwestern corner of Mendocino County, between Sonoma County's Alexander Valley to the South and Mendocino County!s Anderson Valley to the North. The region is 25 miles long, roughly in the shape of rectangle and bisected by Highway 128 which runs the length of the AVA. The region!s terrain is hilly and forested, with elevations ranging from 1,078 to 2,442 feet above sea level.
The distinguishing features of the Yorkville Highlands AVA are rocky soils with a high gravel content and the climate, which is cooler than Alexander Valley but warmer than Anderson Valley, and significantly cooler at night than the surrounding areas.

Carneros

Straddles the southern ends of Napa & Sonoma Counties.
