Notes of red fruit, leather, oak, spices and lovely fine tannins. A perfect pairing with the homemade pasta puttanesca. Drink now or hold. (817 views) | | Tasted by Rhollander on 6/24/2020 & rated 90 points: Full body, very smooth after 10 years. Oak, leather, spices, delicate tannins. Excellent with a roast. Very nice (898 views) | | Tasted by rojoloco on 4/21/2020 & rated 91 points: Lovely after about 30 minutes. Earthy, full and delicious. Drank with BBQ and it was wonderful. (948 views) | | Tasted by TashNYC on 3/28/2018 & rated 92 points: Red and dark fruits, a little vanilla, lots of spice and considerable tannins on the finish. Good now but better with some time. Very tasty with homemade meatballs (pork, chicken and beef).
Great qpr. I wish I had bought a case or two. I would hold for 1-3 years. (981 views) | | Tasted by logos on 1/31/2018: fairly classy nose of deep, dark, ripe fruits, especially black raspberry, with marked vanilla note and general spicy touch. rich, quite tannic, tongue coating taste of ;strong, harsh tannic remains on tongue. needs at least 3 years to mature. (2033 views) | | Tasted by DanieleA on 7/20/2014 & rated 92 points: Unusual and sophisticated; the years of aging in both barrique and wide barrels made it nicely balanced. Nice fruit on the palate and on the nose. Surely deserves some more aging, but it's perfectly drinkable even now. (2455 views) |
| Conti Zecca Producer website2010 Conti Zecca Nero Salento IGT"Native to southern Italy, the Negroamaro grape is the main varietal in this red wine blend. Aged in new French barriques and oak barrels, this full-bodied red boasts bold red fruit aromas, interlaced with notes of spices and hints of vanilla and licorice. Conti Zecca Nero is soft and harmonious on the palate with well-structured, mature tannins and a long, persistent finish. This wine is a nice complement to grilled red meats, pasta dishes with meat-based or spicy sauces, and aged cheeses." - ImporterConti Zecca Nero Salento IGThttp://www.contizecca.it/ChiSiamo.asp?language=EN
Nero Conti Zecca, 70% Negroamaro and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, was born by an intuition of the Zecca brothers who, in the Eighties, decided to introduce and taste on their own wine estates, and more precisely on Cantalupi Estate, selected clones of Cabernet Sauvignon. Nero was commercialized for the first time in 1999 with the vintage 1997. The vintage 1998 was a great success: the wine experts immediately looked at this red wine of Puglia as a novelty in the oenological regional and national outline for the combination between an Apulian native vine (Negroamaro) and an international vine (Cabernet Sauvignon) that made it one of the best red wines in Puglia.
