| Community Tasting Notes (average 84 pts. and median of 85 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by GrapeApes on 7/14/2011 & rated 85 points: Easy drinking but not overly complex. Hints of dark fruit and plum. Mild tannins and little spice. Not bad for the price. (2910 views) | | Tasted by JavaZin on 12/15/2006 & rated 86 points: Nice Zin but different from most. Very red berry forward flavor with a big dose of licorice/anise in the nose and middle. Slight finish; wine opened well as it sat and probably should have decanted for an hour. Tasted July 23, 2006 at home as part of the Wino Depot Tasting With Friends for July. Opened an served immediately in a Spiegelau Authntis Rot Wein glass. Garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking throughout. Nose of potpourri, dried cherries and dried berries. Flavors of black cherries, black licorice and sweet red cherries. Light to medium acidity, light tannins. Fairly well balanced. Not a great wine, put certainly quaffable. PURPLE commented it was one dimensional as well. Based on the local retail price we paid of $9.99 I’d say the value here is acceptable. (3574 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
