Nice, but kind of a sharp, tough finish to rate any higher. (1351 views) | | Tasted by MichielV on 5/14/2016 & rated 89 points: Not as good as i remember. This needs food. Maybe just not my day. Today it lacks some crispness. (1950 views) | | Tasted by tantotinto on 3/3/2016 & rated 92 points: Just as good as the 2013. Honeydew, white peach and a touch of varietal grassiness. Smooth and full. Juicy acidity and some sweetness on the finish. Good on its own but also pairs well with a wide range of food. A superb wine and our favorite domestic SB these days by some margin. (1996 views) | | Tasted by TampaMark on 12/25/2015 & rated 93 points: My new favorite Sauvignon Blanc, wish I had a case!! (2146 views) | | Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 6/23/2015 & rated 92 points: Crocker & Starr has (yet again) crafted a beautiful Sauvignon Blanc that is worthy of its accolades. Stone fruit, melon, kiwi and mineral elements cohesively define both the nose and palate. Light-bodied, fresh and with no sign of alcoholic heat (despite being labeled as 14.4%), it stays solid in the middle and closes with a medium-to-long, crisp finish. Bravo to this producer for such consistency. Drink now-2018. (2543 views) |
| Crocker & Starr Producer website Sauvignon Blanc Varietal CharacterUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
