(2840 views) | | Tasted by tantotinto on 1/29/2011 & rated 90 points: Consistent with previous note and, sadly, our last bottle of this wine. (2844 views) | | Tasted by tantotinto on 10/16/2010 & rated 90 points: Consistent with last note. This is excellent. (2976 views) | | Tasted by tantotinto on 7/10/2010 & rated 90 points: Consistent with previous note and excellent with this evening's roasted vegetable tart. (3004 views) | | Tasted by tantotinto on 5/29/2010 & rated 90 points: Pale yellow. Nose of citrus, grass and herbs. Very fresh and lively. Flavors include pear, ripe banana, a touch of lemon, noticeable minerality and a tart finish. Smooth creamy texture which I would have guessed came from oak. Perhaps it did although the winery says this wine was 95% barrel fermented in stainless steel and only 5% in new French oak. My wife and I both liked this and it was a great match for this evening's KFC original recipe fried chicken. (3124 views) | | Tasted by 6831 on 1/10/2010 & rated 90 points: Fresh, grassy aromas. Sweet kiwi, honeydew melon, cucumber, citrus and herb are balanced and refreshing. Clean finish. Tasty wine. | Crocker & Starr Producer website Sauvignon Blanc Varietal CharacterUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
