| Community Tasting Notes (average 89.6 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 57 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Terramare on 2/4/2023 & rated 88 points: This has become a decent library Chard, good match with seafood. Some of the original tartness is still present. I don't think I would wait too much longer on this one. (466 views) | | Tasted by spineguy on 4/17/2022 & rated 90 points: Worked well as a crowd pleaser. Wood was nicely reserved and in background (yay for a Cali Chard). While not very complex, there were definitely some decent things going on. Gave it an extra point for QPR. (970 views) | | Tasted by LifeIsPetitSyrah on 4/13/2022 & rated 90 points: Nice aroma on the nose with soft floral notes. Color was a darker shade of yellow. Had nice acidity on the palate with a fair amount of oak. Picked up notes of vanilla, clove along with stone fruit and green apple, fairly creamy as well. Would’ve liked it to be a little more balanced for my taste, but enjoyed it overall. (929 views) | | Tasted by SlimShaney on 8/8/2021 & rated 91 points: Simple bold and modern. Does what you expect. Reliable.
Unlike the Zen restaurant I'm at which can't figure out if it's Japanese or Thai (The Crane Barbados) (1434 views) | | Tasted by Yzhang1908 on 6/19/2020: Floral nose, complex, long acidity in the finish, prefer this than the buttery Chardonnay, like it better than Wente’s Riva Ranch. Compare to white burgundy, doesn’t have the structure and complex flavor, still closer than white burgundy than other California Chardonnay - good one to pare with seafood and something light. (1701 views) | | Tasted by shessmarter on 4/24/2020 & rated 96 points: Perfect with the salmon! (1342 views) | | Tasted by nkromberg on 5/30/2019 & rated 89 points: Light yellow. Fine tight lines. Pear. Approcate. Tart. Apple. Acid. Green apple. Some oak. Not the old school butter bomb.
Tasted at Jordan (1527 views) | | Tasted by lpettet on 4/10/2019 & rated 89 points: Once again I enjoyed this wine. Still better on the second day. I’ll get again at a good price point. Clean and crisp. Was really nice at five years old. (1502 views) | | Tasted by tomoem on 4/13/2018 & rated 90 points: Quite burgundy like. Perhaps some SB or Semillion in the mix. Bright sharp and not really my style, but appreciated.
Lineup included. 1990 Dom Perignon, Kenward Tor 2014 Hyde vineyard Chardonnay, Jordan Chardonnay 2014, Plumpjack Cabernet 2012, Plumpjack Syrah 2015 and Denner The Ditch Digger 2015. (2241 views) | | Tasted by ElmhurstCellar on 11/17/2017: Yum (2310 views) | | Tasted by NJgrapey on 9/16/2017 & rated 85 points: Extremely light bodied Chardonnay - almost imperceptible oak notes on the finish and that was only after the wine had warmed up to about 68 degrees. This is definitely a summer wine - best with a very light meal. (2360 views) | | Tasted by Baron Slick on 9/11/2017 & rated 90 points: Bright, vibrant, and juicy style. It's almost Chablis like sans the minerality. Shows attractive ripeness on the nose. Green apple, lemon, pear, and quince notes are clean and enhanced by a beautiful kiss of toast. A hint of brine laces the tasty finish. (2111 views) | | Tasted by lpettet on 6/20/2017 & rated 91 points: Light on the oak which I like. Nicer when it warms up. Will get again. (2302 views) | | Tasted by gmac10 on 5/22/2017 & rated 90 points: Delish. Very nice Chardonnay. Buttery and full. (1769 views) | | Tasted by Bruce 1er on 5/11/2017 & rated 89 points: A very respectable and well-crafted wine that is easy to drink. Has a solid structure, a touch of minerals and smoke, good fruit, and light oak. (1558 views) | | Tasted by Ryan.Vento on 3/9/2017 & rated 90 points: A lively burst of citrus on the front-end with a smooth, buttery blanket on the back. Delicious! (934 views) | | Tasted by Jeremy Holmes on 1/12/2017: Has a nose of grapefruit and peach with some oak spice. In the mouth it had a nice balance of fruit and oak and was light on its feet with a crisp finish. (1893 views) | | Tasted by tomoem on 12/31/2016 & rated 90 points: I definitely agree with the comments I read on CT about this wine. At first I thought that this was a blend of SB and Chard, but then at mid palette the creamy texture overwhelms the acidity and the fruits emerge. Lemon custard is the best expression I can think of. Medium length finish with lingering lemons and some pear. (1656 views) | | Tasted by wiscgrad on 12/24/2016 & rated 90 points: Walks the line between Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Plenty of acidity and so decent fruit. Solid Sonoma chard. Needs food (1349 views) | | Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 9/18/2016 & rated 92 points: Light yellow color; appealing, aromatic, savory, lemon, almond, light green herb nose; tasty, tart lemon, almond, green almond palate with precision and medium acidity; medium-plus finish (13.7% alcohol) (523 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 4/8/2016 & rated 89 points: Some Blind Cali Chards: Bright gold color. Aromas of yellow apples, apricot, lemon curd, and well-woven creamy and nutty sense that plays well off bright floral and chalky elements. Medium+ bodied. A lightly creamy presence on the palate is rushed over by refreshing acidity. Flavors of green and yellow apple, lemon curd and crunchy apricot mix with notes of honeyed tea, raw almond, cinnamon and some floral perfume and a hint of chalk. Lots of flavor, but it stays bright and crisp throughout with a long finish. Another solid example of this perennially good Chard. An all-around infielder of a Chardonnay, considering the modest maloactic fermentation (30%) and well-integrated oak (this spends about five months in new French oak.) | Jordan Vineyard & Winery Producer website and Jordan Winery's video blog, The JourneyChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
