Tasted by Mortgage92 on 5/5/2024 & rated 93 points: More life in the bottle, but drinking very well now! Outstanding zin (holds in the tug-of-war with Ridge). A little more fruit forward than Ridge with a little less pepper, but still a slight smoke flavor and aroma. Paired this with some bar-b-q chicken and worked beautifully. (72 views)
Tasted by tfesmgk on 11/14/2023 & rated 95 points: Outstanding zin and drinking great. Dark fruit, spices but also balanced with cherry and lighter fruits. Long finish. Wish I had more. (301 views)
Tasted by seijaro on 4/1/2022 & rated 97 points: We didn't just like it, we LOVED it! A monster Zin bursting with flavor but smooth despite 16.6 alcohol. This is CA Zinfandel at it's very best, we take all they will allocate us (currently four bottles). (1074 views)
Tasted by bestdamncab on 6/2/2021 & rated 96 points: Nose of rich, black berry, black cherry, and allspice, big body, very tasty, mouth filling fruit, needs 4 years to peak, just delicious, overwhelmed other wines tasted, and a long, long, flavorful finish and aftertaste. Uploaded photo. (1326 views)
Tasted by tcosgriff on 8/16/2020 & rated 92 points: Garnet color with a bouquet and flavor typical of this variety and vineyard with plum and brambles predominating. Big wine with a lot of alcohol and with mostly integrated tannins. Good depth with a long if a bit scratchy ending. Probably too much alcohol. (1404 views)
Tasted by sdr on 11/28/2019: Rocket fuel, calmed down a bit, tiring but makes a point. (1938 views)
Tasted by Mike Dildine on 8/7/2018 & rated 94 points: Great focus and intensity and yet light on its feet. A bit of alcohol heat on the finish. Very distinctive. (2519 views)
Tasted by seijaro on 4/8/2018 & rated 95 points: A big chunky Zin bursting with flavor. Still a tad scratchy, needs a couple of years to smooth out but will be a killer. (2136 views)

Martinelli

Producer website

All of the Martinelli Estate vineyards are farmed by Lee Martinelli, Sr., and sons Lee, Jr., and George Martinelli. The wines are made by our winemaker, Helen Turley, and assistant winemaker, Bryan Kvamme. These handcrafted wines are un-fined, un-filtered, neither cold nor heat stabilized and may contain naturally occurring sediment.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
