(130 views) | | Tasted by DaButtah on 1/17/2024 & rated 86 points: This is a confusing high alcohol fruit bomb. Sorry but I fail to see the allure of what strikes me as wine with a float of 151 on top. (413 views) | | Tasted by CornDoggyDogg on 5/14/2023 & rated 93 points: Lots of stuff to like here - just a little hot for me from the alcohol. Martinelli is known for high alcohol zins but for me it's usually been hidden better. Will be happy to drink again, but I think I like Giuseppe and Luisa better for the price. Martinelli Zinfandels always a winner though. (675 views) | | Tasted by Nelsongwinn on 12/18/2022 & rated 93 points: Dark ink color, wonderful fruit (804 views) | | Tasted by Race crew on 8/13/2022 & rated 91 points: Need 4 more years in the cellar (943 views) | | Tasted by MicklethePickle on 7/3/2022 & rated 92 points: Opened last night. This is the epitome of the Martinelli Jackass zin: full-throttle, well-disguised alcohol, incredibly ripe, sweet fruit, but somehow avoiding overripeness. Goes on and on in the finish. Truly a one-of-a-kind zinfandel; no else does this style quite so well. 5-12-17-8: 92/100. (1303 views) | | Tasted by Nelsongwinn on 6/10/2022 & rated 91 points: Nice deep ruby color, fruit forward, nice long finish! Scumptous (930 views) | | Tasted by SMHalps on 4/22/2022 & rated 92 points: Brought this to a Cheeseburger and Zin dinner at a NYC Steakhouse with my wine group. Long finish, lots of upfront fruit, and an incredible nose. It carries its 16+% alcohol very well. Not quite my favorite of the night, but really good! It was the most expensive wine of the night and a few of the group had it as their favorite (without knowing the price). (866 views) | | Tasted by Race crew on 11/15/2021 & rated 92 points: Inky and chewy. High alcohol BUT does not feel hot. Pungent nose, rotted fruit...tar. I think this one will mature nicely. Going to leave the other bottles alone for a few more years. My previous experience with Jackass has been remarkable, I do think this vintage will be a similar experience given time (869 views) | | Tasted by cos65 on 7/20/2021 & rated 92 points: sb Huge bang of heat, vanillin oak and brambly dark berries, POW! Right in the face. Served blind this was aggressively an almost undrinkable brut at 16.6%, but with about 45 minutes softened up and sweetened up to a rather delicious place. Tons going on, I think this will come together dramatically better with a few years. Obviously not for everyone. YFS 92+ (722 views) |

All of the Martinelli Estate vineyards are farmed by Lee Martinelli, Sr., and sons Lee, Jr., and George Martinelli. The wines are made by our winemaker, Helen Turley, and assistant winemaker, Bryan Kvamme. These handcrafted wines are un-fined, un-filtered, neither cold nor heat stabilized and may contain naturally occurring sediment.Zinfandel ZAP: Zinfandel Advocates & Producers | Varietal character (Appellation America) | Wikipedia-ZinfandelUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
