| Community Tasting Notes (average 89.7 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 10 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by TexasBob on 12/22/2018 & rated 88 points: Medium bloody water color. Intense red cherries on the nose with strong alcohol. Mixed red cherry and blackberry notes with a gentle sweetness that comes across as unexpected and a little jarring (but not at all unpleasant). The alcohol really makes itself felt. There is a sense of chalkiness in the soft texture that I am guessing is a direct effect of the Israeli lieu-dit, but that’s just a guess. Pleasant and interesting. (1455 views) | | Tasted by Ajvandet on 10/12/2018 & rated 90 points: Very smooth Surprisingly excellent wine. Great value for money (1281 views) | | Tasted by cdp1276 on 5/18/2018 & rated 93 points: Merlot 63%, Cabernet Sauvignon 16%, Petit Verdot 11%, and Cabernet Franc 10%. So well balanced and velvety on the pallet. (1400 views) | | Tasted by Gstrongin on 3/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Accessed 3/27/18. Dark garnet. Minimal nose. Licorice. Distinctive flavor. | Psagot Producer websiteRed Bordeaux BlendRed Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.
Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico. |
