| Community Tasting Notes (average 90.4 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Ernestas on 3/30/2024 & rated 89 points: Made from co-planted vineyards, where different varieties grow together. Predominantly Trebbiano varietal blended with Malvasia Bianca and Ansonica. Maceration on skins for 2 days, aged for 6 months in concrete vats. Pale amber, orange hue. Medium intensity complex aroma of camomile, orange rind, yellow plums, acacia, bruised apple, wet stone, wax. Medium body, pleasantly tangy and zesty, vibrant structure, bruised apple, flint and yellow plum flavours, touch of orange zest, medium+ acidity, hint of tannic grip. Perfumed nose of quince paste, pear peel, sherry and furniture polish. Bone dry and loaded with ripe pear flavors accompanied by crunchy acidity and a mineral-tinged tannic finish. Unique stuff. I dig it, but can see how it would not be for everyone. (533 views) | | Tasted by JimTaft on 6/23/2019 & rated 91 points: Working on a bottle that has been open a couple days, only 1/4 full. Still very solid, power and longevity on the palate. Amazing really, went into it unsure if I was really enjoying it, convinced now on big flavor ( maybe not exactly what you're used to) and lots to enjoy. (462 views) | | Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/3/2019: tastes like amphora but its not, tons of structure and power, and kinda delicious. (582 views) | | Tasted by Ortiz Brown on 3/31/2019 & rated 88 points: Our first orange wine, so we had no idea what to expect (other than, you know, that the wine would be orange) and how to score.
Light orange in the glass with a pinkish hue toward the edges; unfiltered. On the nose the wine smells like an antique shop with potpourri covering the old lady smell. Hints of vanilla. The flavor is muted on entry with strawberry and cranberry showing on the mid-palate. Drinks like a very delicate rosé. Very high acidity entices you to drink more.
We liked this wine a lot. It’s a really nice counter-balance to the bigger and bolder wines that we typically drink. Perfect for a warm summer night on the deck. Agree fully with previous tasting note, complex, earthy, ample acidity, grippy tannins, orange. Paired well with potato leek soup tonight.
