Tasted by yaletownsipper on 9/18/2021 & rated 90 points: Moon Curser is a small winery that punches above its weight - 2019 Small winery of the year in Canada, with several wines winning gold or platinum at the 2019 Wine Align awards. Their Tempranillo won platinum, and this petit verdot won gold. And deservedly so. Not many wineries in BC do a petit verdot. Desert Hills is one I recall.
This wine is very good. Dark red colour, leggy, with dark fruit and red licorice on the nose. Alcohol and strong tannins show this wine has not peaked yet. Very good right out of the bottle and good on day two. Really enjoyed it and wish I had waited a year or two, or had more. If you're near Osoyoos this is a must visit winery. (308 views)
Tasted by uzzi on 5/13/2021 & rated 90 points: Pretty rich deep purple on the glass. Mixed berries and maybe some cherries. Def dry. Earthy. Lots of structure. Full bodied. Perfect pairing to a Thurs nite charcuterie tray! It’s not a varietal we are overly familiar with on its own. But we enjoyed it. Bet in 3-4 years it’s loosened up a fair bit! (375 views)
Tasted by KillerJones on 5/20/2020 & rated 89 points: This is a gorgeous purple color – love looking at it in the glass!

Straight out of the bottle… this is a dry, dusty tannin field, however, with time - this will be a killer. On day 3, it is trying to break out.

Strong cherry & dark berries currently…there is something good going on here.

The tannins are high & the body full. I’d like to see this age until 2024 and see how it develops. I feel it is hiding something right now.

It is off to a great start though! (1000 views)
Tasted by Chateau du Fey 1994 on 2/15/2020 & rated 90 points: This was very good. Approachable and drinking well young. But more (769 views)
Tasted by CynicalSpinster on 11/16/2019 & rated 90 points: Tasted in late 2019. Some red fruit on the nose, leather and wood. Very deep, rich, heavy tannins, some flavours of dark fruits. Tastes great, but also like it might benefit from a few years ageing. (721 views)

Moon Curser

Producer Website
Moon Curser Vineyards is a boutique, family-owned winery on the East Bench of Osoyoos, BC, a South Okanagan border town known for its hot summers, lakeside fun and vineyards. Moon Curser has been in operation since 2004, when Chris and Beata Tolley purchased an old orchard in need of replanting, and set about converting it into what is now the Moon Curser Home Vineyard block, winery and tasting room.

The Moon Curser name pays tribute to the gold smuggling history of Osoyoos. The Moon Curser wines, however, break from tradition – the winery’s focus has always been on making premium wines from old-world grape varieties not previously planted in the Okanagan such as Tannat, Dolcetto and Touriga Nacional. These varieties have not historically been a part of the South Okanagan viticulture, but thrive in the distinctive terroir of the Osoyoos East Bench and continue to deliver unique, world class interpretations of these wines.

Moon Curser was recognized as #1 Best Performing Small Winery at the 2019 WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada.
