Tasted by DoubleMagnum on 4/7/2024 & rated 91 points: Cherry and cranberry compote on the nose. The fruit is a bit passed peak now but the restrain on this is astonishing. Nobody could believe the alcohol content. Fully mature. Drink up! (151 views)
Tasted by kmforster on 11/23/2018 & rated 91 points: Gorgeous with Thanksgiving dinner. WOTN among three 2006 Turley zins. (2222 views)
Tasted by Chefofthewoods on 2/5/2018 & rated 88 points: Bit over the hill on fruit oxidation, but nonetheless well made zin that is smooth. (2389 views)
Tasted by ipp on 7/24/2017 & rated 92 points: still drinking well at 11 years (2975 views)
Tasted by wbduval on 10/8/2016 flawed bottle: This one had gone bad, unfortunately (3840 views)
Tasted by Mlermontov on 7/9/2016 & rated 92 points: Cherry raspberry jam. Bright mid. Excellent. (4135 views)
Tasted by jakob.krummenacher@gmail.com on 6/24/2016 & rated 93 points: Very intense with cassis and ripe blackberries on the palate. A bit hot on the nose as the high level of alcohol was showing. Needs at least one hour of decanting before drinking. Drink now-2025 (3001 views)
Tasted by tomlee on 1/12/2016 & rated 91 points: Crimson in color. 16.1% ABV. Funky nose of red fruits, sherry and tawny port. Medium body with juicy acidity. Super tasty wine on the palate with flavors of raspberry, strawberry, plums and black pepper. The finish is long and sweet. Ready to drink. Peculiar nose and great taste but not an off bottle in my opinion. Somewhat of an anomaly given previous wines from this vineyard. (3393 views)
Tasted by g money on 6/6/2015 & rated 93 points: Had this at Paul Z's house, amazing Zin at its peak. Perfect cedar and spice nose that gives way into dark ripe red fruit and finishes long with plum, anise, and mocha. One of the best wines I've had lately. (3184 views)
Tasted by MC on 4/19/2015: Good solid Zin, but high octaine. A- (2521 views)
Tasted by winemo on 3/14/2015 & rated 92 points: My favorite Turley vineyard. A very unusual Zin. More like a big Rhone. Still drinking beautifully. (2334 views)
Tasted by Forsgard on 2/13/2015: Opened up very jammy (2354 views)
Tasted by carendt on 9/29/2014 & rated 93 points: Wowza, what a beauty with a bit of age ... even more multi-dimensional, in fact. This is gorgeously supple zin, with a fabulous nose, spectacular secondary character, and a sophisticated finish. Bravo! (2681 views)
Tasted by VinoDiver on 9/13/2014 & rated 92 points: 2014 Fall Wine Dinner - Chicago (Chicago): A great wine with lots of fruit that has aged well. It was decanted for a couple hours and I did not see signs that this was on a decline and I think it should continue to hold for a few more years at least. (2574 views)
Tasted by VinoPKM on 8/23/2014 & rated 95 points: Wow- WOTY potential here. This bottle was at it's peak and drank perfect with the Filet and baked potato.
Definitely the best Zin I have had in a long time and outshined the last bottle I had (which was very good)- that bottle was on the decline... this bottle was not declining at all. Dark fruits and a good layer of pepper and spices. Long finish, perfect amount of acid, great nose and mouth feel as well. (2278 views)
Tasted by umbertodigitali on 8/9/2014 & rated 93 points: Turley at its finest. Pepper, leather and dark fruit on the nose, rush of blackberry and spice flavor going down the hatch. Incredibly balanced, with no real burn from the zinfandel heat. My friend John dislikes Turley, though he is known for being smug about things like new world wine and cities other than San Francisco. Paired delectably with chimichurri and spicy Korean satay pork belly skewers. (2125 views)
Tasted by VinoPKM on 8/3/2014 & rated 92 points: Wow this one is still alive and kicking. Classic Turley Zin- dark fruit and pepper. Still a lot of life in this wine and it is in a great spot. (2220 views)
Tasted by hanasowner on 6/28/2014 & rated 94 points: Wow this was good. Popped and poured...consumed over an hour...or perhaps less as this went quick. Dark fruits (cherry and blackberries) with a nice peppery finish and no noticeable tannins...long finish. (1859 views)
Tasted by Drmarg on 6/15/2014 & rated 92 points: What a Father's Day treat!! An '06 Zin that has stood the test of time in the cellar! Suggest a shorter decant time on this one. Previous tasting notes suggesting black fruits, boysenberry, etc. that were not there for me. Way more subtle fruit notes allowing other complexities to shine. There is a an unusual, very pleasant funk on the nose. Like a briny, oily, smoky, golden raisin thing that was difficult to pinpoint. On the palate, this zin rocked; super soft with just the right amount of residual acid. I agree with other reviewers that the drinking window is here, but do not panic if properly cellared. This one should make it through next year. (1899 views)
Tasted by btock on 3/23/2014 & rated 90 points: Solid, but losing a bit of verve. Bit of garrique, depth of color and flavor but settling in a bit. Drink now. (2016 views)
Tasted by levinml on 2/12/2014 & rated 91 points: Ueberroth has been one of my favorite Turleys since it first came out, but this seemed ordinary by its standard (i.e, just another Turley). A hair over the hill, perhaps? Drink up. (2144 views)
 Tasted by calodo2011 on 2/11/2014 & rated 92 points: W/ Morgans. (2076 views)
Tasted by Jbird73 on 1/29/2014 & rated 88 points: Nose is so full of ripe ripe raisins (maybe prunes). Hard to detect much more. In the mouth this is silky at this point as the acid has faded away. Pleasant to drink but no sense in waiting...pop and pour and enjoy ASAP

Saved some for day 2 and not really that good. Drinkable but boy have the prunes come home to roost...at least for my palate.....

Open this now, pour for a bunch of friends and enjoy a glass as it has enough life once opened for about 30 minutes or so in my book (1993 views)
Tasted by diananm on 1/22/2014 & rated 92 points: Worried this might be over the hill. A little pruney at first, but then the cherry fruits came out. Nice drink, went well with beef bourginon made with zin. Drink up if you have it. (2130 views)
Tasted by D.Callahan on 12/15/2013 & rated 89 points: I wish I had popped this one a bit earlier in its life. Big rich palate and nose with cherries and spices but the dominate flavor I got was raisins. Raisins are not my favorite note for a flavor profile. The alcohol was well hidden and the others at the dinner liked the wine very much. I don't know if the raisin notes were evident earlier in the life of the wine or not. Without this note the wine would have rated around a 92 with me. (1892 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
