| Community Tasting Notes (average 92.4 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 19 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Hilzi on 7/9/2023 & rated 96 points: Nearly the same as my last tasting note. 1 point more as the wine has grown on me with increasing bottle age. It is still very young and fresh with great length and life ahead. Pineapple, honey, apricot, nice mineral aromas. Very smooth, with alcohol well blended in. Very long aftertaste. (563 views) | | Tasted by Hilzi on 4/1/2022 & rated 95 points: Absolute pleasure to drink. Intense sweet aromas, nice saltiness, smooth mouthfeel, textbook Alsatian GEWürztraminer (772 views) | | Tasted by drwine2001 on 12/31/2021: Deep yellow. Moderately sweet pineapple fruit without botrytis, bitterness, or other annoying varietal idiosyncrasies. Great texture. Very much the same as my 2019 note. Fantastic bottle. Nose: Pronounced; Developing; Notes of lychee, blossom, rose, dried peach, dried mango, honey, caramel
Palate: Sweet; Med(-) acid; Med alcohol (13.5%); Med(+) body; Pronounced intensity; Notes of lychee, dried peach, dried mango, honey, caramel; Long finish
Quality: Outstanding
Drink now; Unsuitable for further aging (will hold a while, but fully developed) (1249 views) | | Tasted by 500174 on 4/8/2021: Beautiful, silky texture. I agree with DRWINE2001 below. Benchmark for aged, sweet Gewurz. 19 (1026 views) | | Tasted by drwine2001 on 12/17/2019: Full yellow. Ripe pineapple and apricot tones without any florality. Rich and fairly sweet, beautiful clarity of fruit with some spice but without any bitterness that so often shows up with this varietal. Interestingly, it was definitely sweeter than the 1983 Trimbach SGN that we drank last month. Unctuous but lively due to sharp grapefruit acidity. This will easily go on for another decade. Exceptionally well balanced Gewurztraminer that is a pleasure to drink. This is at a completely different level of quality (higher, that is) compared to the Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre from the same vintage. (1706 views) | | Tasted by ovenmitt on 7/27/2018 & rated 91 points: Excellent but needs more cellar time IMHO. No formal notes - took about an hour to open up. Still medium golden. Nose apricot, peaches and honey, with a bit of straw. Taste much the same. Became lighter on its feet with air. Could hold other bottles for 10+ years. (1382 views) | | Tasted by Mazy on 4/8/2016 & rated 87 points: Beaucoup de sucre en bouche (72 g/l de sucre résiduel), c’est riche et gouleyant, sur le pain d’épices, les litchis, le bonbon. (2267 views) | | Tasted by Thoughtful on 12/10/2015 & rated 94 points: Recently purchased. Lovely expressive bouquet. Restrained, wonderful balance and length. Not overdone with lychees and petrol but truely expresses essence of the grape. Years of life left but will it improve? (2201 views) | | Tasted by SWHighlander on 6/29/2015: Tasted at the winery. Nice wine. Smoky, with notes of honey. No petrol. The acidity nicely balances the body, with a residual sugar of 75 but it comes off as only moderately sweet on the palate. Should age 20+ years. Fabulous, fruity nose. Amazing range of fruit flavors. If you can imagine it you can probably find it in this wine. Served with a Passionfruit White Chocolate Mousse, it was heavenly. An amazingly light and not sweet dessert wine that really holds its own and paired beautifully. What a treat! (1982 views) | | Tasted by dcwino on 11/8/2013 & rated 94 points: World Wine Symposium 2013 - Kevin and Kelly's excellent adventure; 11/6/2013-11/14/2013 (Villa D’este, Lake Como): Ripe yellow fruits, peach, lychee, caramel but no petrol yet. Not too Gewurztraminerish which is a good thing for me. Unctuous palate, jammy yellow fruits, apricot jam and bright acidity counterbalances and keep excellent precision. (2810 views) | | Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 4/30/2013 & rated 91 points: A private lunch (Restaurant Jean-Francois Piège **, Paris, France): Stunning nose with explosive Gewurz aromatics, ripe fruit and excellent depth; on the palate only off-dry, refreshing and energetic, with powerful bitters; perfumed finish wirth very good length.
