Tasted by TheGreenFrog on 4/25/2024 & rated 94 points: 5 hour decant. Served at 16c. An excellent wine - seems at its peak with everything in harmony. Wonderful mature grenache fruit with nice balance. (71 views)
Tasted by awever on 10/23/2023 & rated 92 points: Trinken (663 views)
Tasted by shafer1994 on 2/1/2023 & rated 93 points: Still a fresh and youthful wine which benefited from the declassification of the cuvee des cadettes in 2007. light red color, fruity nose. The full bodied wine needs some air but opens up without decant after 30-45 mins and offers wonderful aromas of dark berries, cassis, some vanilla. Tannins are present in the medium to long, silky finish. Therefore I think the wine will easily make a couple of more years in good condition. (1159 views)
Tasted by peter.mancell@mfg.com.au on 5/4/2022 & rated 92 points: Very good CNdP.
Nice fruit, medium body, nice lighter texture, tannins fully integrated, a hint of dryness, wonderful long finish. (1772 views)
Tasted by Cmbond007 on 3/12/2022 & rated 92 points: Very good. Took a long time to open but when it did the taste was special. Great old world wine. (1737 views)
(2015 views)
Tasted by Barry Notes on 6/29/2021 & rated 92 points: Pw1 hour decant and returned to bottle. Clear with a minor amount of very fine sediment. Med ruby/purple color. Nice full nose. I've been sitting on this for 10 years and the wait was worthwhile. Perfect drinking window/balance/integration/tannins. Classic CdP flavor profile taste, dark fruit. Med to full body, nice long finish. Nothing off. $43 (2102 views)
Tasted by Phenol73 on 3/17/2021 & rated 93 points: Inky purple with slight fading to the rim. Complex aromas of lavender, aniseed, blackberries, horse hide, cocoa powder - Grenache character really comes through. Fleshy, opulent palate supported by med+ acidity and well resolved tannins. This is still quite youthful and vigorous with easily another 5 years ahead. 93+ (1911 views)
Tasted by Uncle Victor on 2/25/2021 & rated 92 points: Previous bottle was corked so this one was a nervous delight. Excellent balance of fruit and earth on the nose, with subtle spice notes. Cassis, black licorice, light pepper, anise, Chukar cherries(!), saddle leather. Fruit gives way to more earth, garrigue, pencil shavings in the mouth. Medium acidity. Tannins fine grained bordering on grippy. Long finish. Yum. (1492 views)
Tasted by Uncle Victor on 1/28/2021 flawed bottle: Sadly this bottle was corked. Fortunately I’ve got more so I’m not giving up on it yet! Stay tuned... (1509 views)
Tasted by Outplaying on 1/18/2021: Another wine that surprised me over the weekend. So many of the 07 CdP's are overripe and big, but this was more restrained, and drinking well. Some light spice accents. Enjoyed it. (1261 views)
Tasted by williamswhine on 1/17/2021 & rated 93 points: Dark red hue. Nose of red fruits, fresh, fruity. Cherry, black berry, leather, and a tad of spice. Drank around a fire pit with friends-- very enjoyable and drinking nicely. (970 views)
 Tasted by Anders T on 1/3/2021 & rated 91 points: 91+ (721 views)
Tasted by bigberrypicker on 12/28/2020 flawed bottle: Mildly corked.

Some aromas of pear coming through beyond the cork but sadly muted by the fault. (605 views)
Tasted by davidmcgowan on 12/25/2020 & rated 90 points: Ruby red with garnet edges, soft black fruits with a hint of forest floor, dark chocolate, smoke and a touch of vanilla. Smooth finish. This is all very well integrated, rounded and drinking well at the minute, albeit I think it was better a couple of years ago. (472 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 12/20/2020 & rated 91 points: Dark red; dark ripe berries, licorice, dark chocolate; soft firm powerful attack, mellow in the middle, lots of licorice, a bit sharp in the ending; fine and clearly a good CdP year, however, in my view a bit dull with an uninteresting ending, no finesse, no extra depth of complexity, a nice “crowd pleaser” and as such a good wine (578 views)
Tasted by HnK on 10/7/2020: Delicious. (797 views)
Tasted by Nohedes on 7/11/2020 & rated 92 points: This is in a really good place - still has fruit, great tannin that makes you want another sip. I’m sure it’ll be good for many years, but I’ve got a feeling that it’s à point right now. Drink or keep (982 views)
Tasted by vinero on 7/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Consistent with previous TN’s. In need of 30 minutes of air. Elegantly styled with a conplex set of aromas on the palate and a nice and smooth finish. This had it’s peak, but still drinking very nicely. (878 views)
Tasted by Hermosabritdad on 6/11/2020 & rated 92 points: A very good example of how patience - or perhaps bottle variation - makes a huge difference. This was very good tonight. Deep ruby with garnet at the edge. Medium + intensity on the nose and tones of sweet red fruit. Strawberry and red plum. Some dry raisons too. Even a bit of mint. Secondary vanilla and perhaps coconut? After a while a bit of savory - meat, cedar, white pepper. On the palette - wow, it is so “clean” considering its 13 years old and from a hot vintage. My bias says the organic viniculture is doing its lovely “clean” thing! Medium + sweetness, medium acidity and medium - but still nice tannins making sure it’s not too jam-bomb ish. Body of medium + and good flavor intensity of strawberry again and plum. Finish is medium +. Overall this really is very good. Nice length, and good if not overly impressive complexity; that said for a CNDP its very well balanced. And for the initial purchase price ...wow Wish I had not drunk so much of it earlier, as I was not that impressed with it until now! Makes me think it might be a good idea to track down some 2015. And certainly continues to suggest Organic - and ideally BIO - viniculture pays off into lovely clean, crisp, well structured wine that stands out over time. (1105 views)
Tasted by brasstab on 5/25/2020 & rated 90 points: Classic. So much character in one glass. All the feels. (1078 views)
Tasted by LenaLasse on 4/30/2020 & rated 79 points: Vi drack den till grillad entrecote. Först doftade korken korkskadad, och även doften var korkskadad. Smaken var först god, så vi bestämde oss för att dricka. Tyvärr så smakade den även efter ett tag korkskadad. (1054 views)
Tasted by LenaLasse on 3/28/2020 & rated 92 points: Drack tillsammans med Rogeman den 28/3. Mycket god! (922 views)
Tasted by thewiz on 3/7/2020 & rated 93 points: Gourmetklubbens fyrtiofemte middag: Tema Havets läckerheter (Södermalm, Stockholm (P+A)): Brick red colour with a maturing nose showing coffee, bay leafs and a touch of mint. Smooth tannins on the palate showing an acidity on the mid and with drying fruit on the finish. This is very nice, and should keep well for many years to come.
(Best 2017-2032) (328 views)
Tasted by TheWineMonkey on 12/25/2019 & rated 89 points: Drunk at Christmas with traditional Chicken roast dinner. The wine is clear and the colour is ruby. On the nose there are hints of leather and vanilla, the predominate fruit being cherry. On the palate pepper and cherry with a buttery finish, smooth tannins. Perhaps not a 100% traditional Châteauneuf being influenced quite noticeably by new oak, nevertheless an enjoyable wine. (1330 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.

"As I have written many times in the past, the sweet spot for drinking Châteauneuf du Papes is usually the first 5-6 years after the vintage. Then they seem to go through an adolescent, awkward, and sometimes dormant stage, only to re-emerge around year 10-12, where the majority of wines are often fully mature. The best of them will continue to hold on to life (but rarely improving) beyond 15-20 years. It is only the exceptional Châteauneuf du Papes that will evolve for 20-25+ years, and those are indeed a rarity. However, things may be improving dramatically in terms of the longevity of Châteauneuf du Pape, although Grenache-dominated wines, the vast majority of wines produced in the appellation, are wines that do not have the polyphenol (extract and tannin) content of top Cabernet Sauvignons, Merlots, or Syrah-based wines. Nevertheless, the younger generation in Châteauneuf du Pape has taken seriously the farming in the vineyards. There are more organic and biodynamically run vineyards here than in any other appellation of France. The yields, which were already low, are even lower today (20-35 hectoliters per hectare), and of course, the proliferation of top luxury and/or old-vine cuvées gives a significant boost to the number of wines that will evolve past 25 or 30 years. The advantage of these wines is their broad window of drinkability." - Robert Parker
