 Tasted by Jjpt1785 on 11/24/2022: Ah so got the cork out in one piece! Almost soaked through, fair amount of sediment. Still has a great color, not too bricky.

Very silky with weightless power while showing earth, dark fruit, tea and cedar. So delicate and smooth. I loved the fact that the wine did not have the typical napa ripeness.  Tasted by clayfu on 3/28/2018: Heitz Martha's vertical 74-77 with an absolutely CURSED line up of chardonnay. (Major Domo): Oh boy this wine was good. An absolute beast of a wine. Brawny and structured with thick tannins and dark oozing black fruit. Needed as much time as it could get to open up. Becomes really fresh and filled with juicy dark fruit mixed with cigar and spice. While the Heitz Martha's next to it were more a representation of California with riper red fruit and sweeter noses, the 79 Mayacamas could have fooled me as a top flight bordeaux. Mole paired quite well with the paprika and dried chile notes on the nose of the wine. Would give pristine bottles another few years in the cellar before consuming. Lacked one level of depth and refinement when compared to the best Mayacamas vintages of the 70s. 90+ (3190 views)

Good colour, easily the youngest in appearance, slightly vegetal on the nose, spicy, quite complex. Good texture still, good fruit, spicy, fresh and lively. Slightly drying, lingering finish. Great bottle - has some life left in it. 91-93 (3013 views)

 Tasted by eric@cwm on 4/26/2014 & rated 96 points: Showing a very youthful dark garnet color, with only slight thinning around the edges. Explosive aromas of dark cherry, cocoa, and spice. This looks and tastes like a wine half its age. Juicy black cherry on the palate gives way to layers of ginger, cocoa and spice. This has broad tannic structure, but mostly integrated. Many years left. It is a revelation. Reminds me of a much younger Dominus. (3289 views)

Wonderful minty, chocolatey aroma. On the palate, firmly structured fruit, rich, elegant, with great balance. Flavors are great throughout. Tannins bode well for extended aging. 5-12-16-8: 91/100. Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
