Right amount of oak compliments the buttery feel. Opened up after an hour and the apple and pineapple nose came through. Since I can't find more from this year, I'll try the 2006 next. (1704 views) | | Tasted by borneman on 12/23/2007 & rated 91 points: nicely balanced chard, with an acidic edge to cut thrugh the buttery malo. Very nice. (1768 views) | | Tasted by borneman on 10/29/2006 & rated 92 points: Smooth, mouthcoating buttered popcorn Cal chard with a very long finish. (1917 views) | | Tasted by jmp on 7/29/2006 & rated 91 points: If you like a traditional California chardonnay, this is a great example - nicely, but not overly oaked, pleasantly buttery, a soild range of fruit flavors. Smooth on the finish. While I tend to prefer a more French style chard, I will buy mroe of this wine. (2190 views) | | Tasted by caboychuck on 4/14/2006: Really liked nose of golden apple, caramel, some fresh green stuff, and creme brulee Liked for first 2 hours - balance of fruit, oak, acidity; after 3 hours much more pineapple, tropical(typical CA fruit) stuff. (1119 views) | | Tasted by caboychuck on 4/14/2006: nice gold cl; nose: nice, golden del apples, caramel, little fresh cut lawn; cream brulee
palate: just opened - so still closed; seems to have good balance.
Problem: after 3-4 hours really got to be too pineappley and CA in flavor. Not myp pick. Carol (1985 views) | | Tasted by jamiekutch on 5/31/2005: Insanity at Pisoni Memorial Day Weekend!!! (Santa Lucia Highlands): (Barrel Sample) Great fruit one again with beautiful balance and a crisp mineral flavor profile. Not a creamy, buttery, oaky, style chard. Much more subtle - Man o man do I like this guys chards. (3399 views) |
| By Gary Vaynerchuk Wine Library TV, Battle for the ages!, Episode #11 (3/9/2006) (PESSAGNO SLEEPY HOLLOW CHARDONNAY) #1; NOSE-tight; TASTE-Wow…surprise…tremendous bottle of wine, much more complete than Beringer, still has explosive Oak flavor, but much more integrated into the overall fruit, a TREMENDOUS effort; GV-91 91 points | NOTE: Scores and reviews are the property of Wine Library TV. | Pessagno Producer websiteChardonnay The Chardonnay GrapeSleepy Hollow Vineyard About Vineyard from TalbottUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Central Coasthttp://www.ccwinegrowers.org/links.html
