Tasted by AD_jutant on 10/22/2023 & rated 77 points: WSET2 Course Notes; 10/22/2023-11/5/2023 (WineHouse, Los Angeles): Appearance: medium salmon (pink-orange).
Nose: Medium- intensity. Grape soda, artificial strawberry, watermelon jolly ranchers. Being generous, a touch of rose.
Palate: Medium sweetness. Medium acidity, low alcohol, medium- body and intensity. Grape juice. Short finish.
Fun one to try at the course, for sure. And not insufferable at all.
6/18. Acceptable. (291 views)
Tasted by ChateauShiny on 9/4/2021 & rated 65 points: I am starting to regret these blindfolded inexpensive wine tastings. Put in front of me was a glass that smelled like a cherry jolly rancher with hints of lychee. Thick bodied, syrupy, no acidity. Tasted like a watered down cherry jolly rancher. I think this is a sweet red wine. Lips become very sticky after a few sips.

Blindfold comes off, and it’s the color of a watermelon jolly rancher. I have no idea what this is, nor do I want to know. Does it even matter, my guess is it is a White Zin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Reveal: Yet another Beringer wine, today’s flavor is White Zinfandel. I can’t come to saying varietal when there is little to no characteristics here. 8% ABV explains the sweetness. If this is ‘lifted by a touch of sweetness’, as proclaimed on the label, I hate to know what a semi-sweet wine is like from them. Ironically, I find this better than the White Merlot that was forced upon me yesterday. The simpler palate makes it easier to tolerate how sweet this is to me. (1015 views)
Tasted by mayakacz on 2/17/2021: Orange pink colour.
Taste of strawberry, watermelon. Medium sweet (a bit too sweet for a rosé). Low alcohol. High acidity. (971 views)

Tasted by CJM on 12/24/2019 & rated 70 points: Clear, pale garnet. No acids, no tannins, sweet. Cherry. Short sweet finish. (625 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 11/20/2017: I'll try anything once in the name of science. In fact, I made Gerry taste it along with me. His comment was classic. "not as bad as I was expecting" which I suppose I agree with as it's not revolting but definitely pushing the off dry envelope. Candy strawberry soda pop quality. Like it or not, it's part of the American wine history. (2237 views)

Tasted by J @ y H @ c k on 7/1/2014 & rated 73 points: From Magnum. Thi sis the famous bottle that launches 1000 insults on WineBerserkers. Brought by a guest to my home for a party on Saturday. Recorked that night after people drank one-third of it, quick chilled in the freezer tonight (Tuesday) and tasted with dinner of home made Chicken Sorrentino. No adverse evidence of three days of air. Palate is a mixture of sugar and strawberry. Tastes like very light strawberry soda with sugar. No really bad components like back palate bitterness, excessive hot alcohol, TCA, Brett or other fundamental flaws. Compared to the Cupcake Sauvignon Blanc someone else brought, this was better because that was affirmatively undesireable. This just has no positive characteristics. (1197 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
