A semi blind collection of 1996 Bordeaux with a couple of '97 Napa Cabs thrown in for comparison. A good selection of wines and a very enjoyable evening.
The two Marguax were a little light and disappointing. The Cakebread had more complexity and was drinking better but think it's time to drink up.
A better flight of wines as hoped. The Stag's Leap stood out as new world but not necessarily from the US. The Montrose has promise.
While the Port isn't a great wine it's the second time I've tried it and both times it's a good example of drinkable Port.
The US wins again. The SLV had 3 WOTN, Montrose 2 WOTN (inlcuding mine) and the Cakebread 1WOTN. Seems to be a trend for Claifornia to beat Bordeaux! I also left my notes behind so apologies for the poor brief notes but will try to rescue them.
NV Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut 86 Points
France, Champagne
Light and a little flat. Medium mousse but nothing much happening.
