France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Great fill, great color. Smoky red cherry aromas and flavors, fully mature. Some floral and spice notes on nose, providing overall great aromas. Similar flavors, but overall simple, less complex. Slightly drying finish. 93 point nose, 87 point palate. Best when first opened, this was starting to fade within 30 minutes.
Small glass, brief note. Bright red fruit throughout with subtle spice coming through everywhere as well. Excellent length for its level. Wonderful already, but I'm going to give this another year or two in the cellar to lose some baby fat.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Small glass from magnum, brief note. Very rich, ripe and forward with good concentration. Modest structure coming through right now, so I'd suggest best to enjoy over the next few years.
Small glass, brief note. Mature black cherry and plum with excellent concentration and amazing balance. Eucalyptus, mint and lots of other great stuff kept unfolding for the 45 seconds I managed to keep this in glass.
Small glass, brief note. Nicely mature black fruit, with enough brightness and energy. Long and elegant with great textures. California Cabernet in a style we don't get these days.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Red cherry aromas and flavors. Elegant and understated, but with wonderfully persistent flavors perfectly supported by structure and enticing mineral textures. Wonderful right now.
Pale color. Murky aromas were unappealing. Much better flavors with smoky red cherry that came across as almost elegant and certainly drinkable. Moderate weight and length.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Very ripe black fruit with excellent concentration. Lots of spice, slightly more meaty than typical Vosne 1er, but very alluring nonetheless. Persistent and long finish. Very impressive for the vintage. Thanks for sharing, Cory.
