Introduction

I made flights, fully blind for the participants. They had to find out/tell what the resemblance was and what the difference in every flight. Just for the fun.

  • 2005 Château de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel 89 Points

France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

I think this bottle showed more youthful than the previous one, but of course it is not really young anymore. Beautiful bouquet with still power and also autumn forest impressions and garrigue. On the palate the same. Red berries, some licorice and laurel, mild acidity and round tannin. Lovely wine. I have one bottle left for 2019 or 2020 ;-)

  • 2015 Château de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel 89 Points

France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

Poured in a wine tasting beside the 2005. Expressive bouquet with garrigue and ripe red and dark berries. On the palate the same impressions. Some yoghurt and caramel as well. Beautiful in this youthful stage and it will probably change for the better with some ageing. Between 2022 and 2025+?

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Deep and concentrated bouquet with ripe dark and red berry fruits, garrigue, leather and tobacco. On the palate a beautiful and full bodied wine with sweet ripe fruits, beautiful acidity, some leather and round tannin. 92 - 93

  • 2015 Roc de Lussac 84 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lussac-St. Émilion

At first the bouquet shows cherries, red berries and is a bit dusty. On the palate primary cherries and berries, pleasant acidity and hardly any tannin. Very basic, but the nice part is that the wine hardly changed over 4 days. It was easy drinking and pleasant until day 4. So I can easily score it 84 for the pleasure, but unfortunately because of the lack of complexity not higher.

  • 2004 Château Quinault L'Enclos 91 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Beautiful and complex bouquet with red and dark berries, vanilla, autumn forest and pleasant oak. On the palate good dark berries, cassis, lead pencil shavings and also a touch of bell pepper. Good acidity and round tannin. The wine is ready now and there is no real hurry.

  • 2000 Château Prieuré-Lichine 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

Beautiful bouquet with still dark berries and beautifully dosed oak. On the palate a complex, beautifully developed, classical wine with good acidity and tannin which still offers a pleasant bite.
