[Blind tasted] - No clue, guessed a white from Spain. A dry Furmint from 60 year old vines from a Vega Sicilia enterprise, aged for 5 months on new French oak and 3 months on used French oak. A bit of cumin, flowers, honey, beewax, tangerine, slightly oxidative, balanced oak. Interesting but not something I would seek out more often. High acidity, long finish
[Blind tasted] - Correctly identified as a Mosel Riesling, but not a the top cuvee from Dr Loosen. Made from ungrafted 120 year old vines from the small (1.6ha) and steep Pralat vineyard. Subtle, but clearly a riesling. Spicey, lots of minerality, citrus, white peach, a salty note. High acidity, long and lingering finish, special
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
[Blind tasted] - Correctly identified as Cote de Beaune, but I thought it was a Puligny instead of a Meursault. Very flinty on the nose, broad use of oak, toast and citrus. Not very complex, but very a nice. Somebody called it a “a guilty pleasure” and I very much agree. High acidity, long finish
[Blind tasted] - Guessed a Rioja, not Toro. Very nice, has aged gracefully. Ripe cherries, plum, spicey, mint, ceder. Very deep and still maintaining tis freshness. Medium acidity, very fine tannins. Long finish that keeps evolving
[Blind tasted] Spicy, cherry, blue berry, pipe tobacco, ceder. Has almost a sweet (primitivo-like) note to it Medium acidity, long finish, finely grained tannins
France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Savennières-Coulée de Serrant
[Blind tasted] - Not identified as a Chenin Blanc. What a joy and for me the clear WOTN. Great old chenin profile: oxidative, honey, wool. Keeps evolving in the glass
