France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Beautiful smoke, mineral and ripe orchard aromas. Rich mineral laden fruit with lots of stuffing and bright mineral acidity. Seamless and so fresh. In a peak window.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
95/99/10 flight. Attractive nose of spice and earthen black fruit with Vosne spice and personality. Earth fruit with good concentration but the structure is pretty firm leading to a slightly short finish. Probably as good as its going to get.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
95/99/10 flight. Favorite of the trio. Nose has powerful spice, dried floral and earth tones and is a bit darker than the 99, while also more intensely spicy and focused. Wow, so much rich and powerful fruit laced with great earthen spice. Still young and has upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
95/99/10 flight. Expectations were high given how ready most 2010s are, but this fell short as it's more potential at this stage. Aromas show a very young wine with youthful, primary blueberry and black cherry with plenty of spice. The palate is also so young. While this is seamless like most 2010s its just not showing all the nuance and interest that it eventually will. Hold 5+ years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Whoa, killer nose of florals, red cherry and spice with intensity and layering. Youthfully silky and pure fruit. Near grand cru concentration with seamless and well integrated structure. Power in a velvet glove -- baby Musigny.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru
Appealing and enticing nose has an attractive stem quality with pure black and red cherry with excellent meatiness. Clear grand cru concentration and depth. Meaty fruit with power and purity, nicely integrated 2008 acidity into a long, satisfying finish.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Very primary and singular, obvious red cherry aromas. Palate is primary and enjoyable enough but not showing much nuance or layering yet. Needs 10+ years.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Wow, such a fantastic nose of tarry, herby black cherry with earth and spice. Amazing concentration and silky texture with richness and power. Pin point balance and impressive length — wow.
Totally classic if a bit forward (especially for its age) Giacosa. Floral driven red cherry aromas. Silky fruit, with overt 2005 ripeness, yet very elegant. Primary now and should gain some complexity with 5-10 years, but already in an early peak drinking window.
New producer for me. Classic and traditional profile with lots of boastful and rich 2004 cherry and plum fruit. Tar notes and fresh cut florals add some degree of nuance, but this will be better in a decade. Upside from here.

Honey and sweet apple with some diesel. Palate is big, round and powerful with lots of diesel and smoke. Interesting for sure.

1988 Domaine de Courcel Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Flawed
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pommard 1er Cru
Dirty on the nose. Less so on the palate, but that got dirty too with air. Not nearly as good as a bottle from a few months ago.
