Delicious stuff. Ideal rosé; light and elegant with bright, clear berried and watermelon flavours and bright acids that make it feel incredibly refreshing and easy to drink.

Bright red fruits and savoury chalky accents on a light, elegant frame - with time this gains some weight and power as the fruit also deepens, and not too much later it's almost an essence of black cherries. Lovely.

I can't believe how different this is from the '07. There's bold red fruit here as well, but it has none of the clarity or elegance that the '07 had, instead the fruit's blurred and dominated by nasty reductive flavours that make it really hard to drink.

Tasty, but pretty much a one-note wine right now with bright red fruited flavours and not much else. There's really nice acidity though keeping it very fresh, but right now it's quite boring.

Strange, unpleasant stuff, starting out with an aroma of prunes, overripe red fruits and vinyl/plastic notes, hot and disjointed in the mouth with the fruit garish and raisined, an easy candidate for the dump bucket.

Corked.

Slightly reductive at first, but here it blows off with air quite quickly and reveals lovely dark fruited flavours with touches of herbs and spice, rich but nicely freshened by its acidity.

Drinking very nicely right now; rich red fruits, herbs and warm earthy notes beneath with the start of developing leathery elements. Very approachable and easy to drink now, though the structure and balance here suggests this has some time ahead.

Very much 'wow' stuff; a seamless combination of red fruits, herbs, worn leather and savoury meaty notes in a package that's polished and beautifully balanced, displaying a lightness of touch and elegance that's hard to find almost anywhere with this sort of blend.

Tight and reticent initially, opens up with some air to show a dark fruited core accented by smoky, earthy and peppery notes. There's a fresh, high toned sensation to the flavours here and this feels quite light on its feet.

Very primary right now, showing a core of deep red fruits and plums accented by touches of violet and earth, though tightly wound with a firm tannic and acid spine. Hands off for some more time.

Really nice aromatics; smoky, meaty and brightly fruited with touches of earth and spice, though on the palate it's not quite as expressive as it is on the nose. There's still really delicious bright red and dark fruit conveyed with a lightness of touch and a savoury meaty finish, but this just needs a lot more time.

Makes an impression right away with a gorgeous scent combining fresh red and dark fruits with leather, lavender and violets giving it an exotic, Cote-Rotie like character. Still very young and primary with a spine of firm tannins and bright acidity beneath the bright fruit, floral element and spice, but impossible to resist drinking right now.

Overwhelmed in the flight by the expressive and incredibly awesome '05 and the also-excellent '01; this feels comparatively dull and closed; the flavours aren't as precise or bright as the other two wines and Dale suggested this may be faintly corked/scalped of flavour.

Darker in its flavour profile than the '05, which was more exotic and floral - this is more savoury with black olive, plum and berry fruit accented by softer lavender and earthy notes. There's a bit of development here, but this still feels very young with lots of promise.

Brooding and primary - there's a tightly wound core of savoury dark fruits; plums, blackcurrants and olives and earthy notes, but the structure's dominant right now and this is screaming to be left alone for several years.

Tightly wound, though not as brooding and reticent as the '05 - packed with berries and brambly fruit accented by tarry and smoky notes, there's a sense of intensity and power here that the other Syrahs didn't have, though this still has the balance and elegance I'm finding to be common in the ESJ reds.

Blooming with brett; funky saddle leather and barnyard notes around a rich red and dark fruited core. Unlike the other two Bassettis, the structure here is a little more resolved and not as punishing, the most approachable of the flight though there's still plenty of time ahead here.

Made of the same material as the fantastic '94 but richer and more primary; the fruit's much deeper and more dominant here with less emphasis on the meaty/leathery/non-fruit elements. This is a lot more tannic with an almost gritty texture on the back end that gives it a Cornas-like rustic element, still delicious stuff that'll only get better (if the '94 is any indication).

In a really nice place right now with a more lifted floral aromatic element than the '99 or '94, bright red and dark fruit mingling with meaty and leathery notes on an elegant, middleweight frame. There's just a touch of astringency at the back end, this doesn't have quite the same seamlessness as the other two vintages but still really delicious.

Wild stuff; fantastic aromatics combining fresh brambly fruits, herbs and spices with developed leathery and savoury earthy elements. Beautifully balanced in the mouth; medium weight with a lightness of touch and a finessed, incredibly silken texture, finishing long and meaty.

Bleh. Toffee and raisins, volatile, with some air shows strange cabbage-like aromas while finishing with a blast of heat from the 15.5% alcohol.

Pleasant with fresh floral aromatics leading into ripe yellow pear and quince fruit flavours in the mouth, a little soft and round with a waxy texture on the back end, tasty though I'd like a little more acidity.

Rich and oily in texture, very round and slightly viscous with bright quince and pear fruit over mineral notes on the back end. It's tasty though feels quite flabby and with time the alcohol (14.5%) makes its presence felt.
