had a couple years ago, and I've been hunting for similar ever since. Alas, I'm afraid that climate change precludes California from making these anymore.
Really nice old-worldish Syrah drinking beautifully at age 25. Savory aromatics (meat, olives) and a core of black fruit. Lovely medium weight palate presence. The tannins are mostly resolved but this doesn't come across as "old wine" and still has a dark personality. Seems to me there's no danger of decline any time soon. Drink and hold, as they say. Bravo Steve Edmunds.

Brief note. cork perfect. dark color. this is totally resolved and drinking beautifully. not a rough edge and the syrah fruit w secondaries shine. in a perfect spot but i think will hold a bit longer. Steve Edmunds really got it right here.

Consumed with venison last night. Very Syrah in its dark berry fruit profile, yet with a distinct California character to the fruit. A little of licorice is thrown in, but the overall profile is that of a still-young and vibrant Syrah just barely showing some secondary development. I'm fairly confident that this wine is fully capable of outliving me, but I have no intention of giving it that chance :)

Seemed a bit dead on opening, but after 20m or so it blossomed into a nice light-bodied wine that was almost Burg-like. My guess is that it probably peaked 5 or more years before. Drink now.
