Introduction

The Saturdays at One group got together on Sunday this weekend to do a special tasting of some higher end or unusual German wines. Here are the results:

    Tasted non blind at a wine tasting.

    Yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout with tiny, steady beading. Nose started with a hint of sulfur followed by notes of yellow pears, yellow apples and wet stones. Flavors of yellow pears, lemon and a bit of yellow apple. Bright acidity, medium body. Drink over the next few years.

    Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of kumquat, acacia and sea foam. Flavors of kumquat, apricot and orange spritz. Medium to bright acidity, light to medium body. Drink over the next 8-10 years plus or minus.

    Tasted non blind at a wine tasting.

    Light yellow to yellow color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose came across initially as a little over the top with powerful aromas of a reduced sugar followed by lychee, orange zest and honeysuckle. Flavors of honey, lemon drop, orange, lilikoi and simple sugar. Medium to bright acidity, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.
