Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2009 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

From barrel at the Domaine. Ripe, rich yellow citrus and pear notes with white flowers. Full and rich on the palate with nice acidity, though not at the level of 07 or 08. Quite dense. Very easy to drink now. Moderate finish.

  • 2008 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

From bottle at the Domaine. Mineral driven nose intermixed with lemon and lime zest. Crushed stone and oyster shell. Beautifully textured yellow fruits on the palate. Fantastic acidity and grip on the long finish. Incredibly focused wine.

  • 2007 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

From bottle at the Domaine. Like the 2008 served before, the aromatics are more mineral driven with lemon and lime zest and traces of white floral. Crushed rocks. Palate is also very mineral driven, though the fruit has become a bit more pronounced since the last time I had it. A very gripping and focused wine and like the 2008, tons of acidity. Very long finish. These two vintages will be quite a lot of fun to compare years down the road.

  • 2006 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

From bottle at the Domaine. Riper fruit nose than the preceding wines, but still with the crushed stone and floral notes. Lemon and a faint honey-like note on the expansive palate. Nice acidity and grip on the moderate finish. Very nice.

  • 2001 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

From bottle at the Domaine. Rich aromatics of baked lemon and some honeysuckle with bits of vanilla. Well rounded palate with notes of lemon curd. Very long finish. Nice acidity. In a great place now and I would think that bottles this well stored have a long life ahead.

  • 1994 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

From bottle at the Domaine and served blind to us. Very youthful color. Ripe stone fruit and apple on the nose. Some crushed rock and floral. Very youthful on the palate as well with great acidity and nice ripe fruits. Very focused with a lengthy finish. A bit of grip as well. I guessed 1999 or 1996; quite surprised at 1994. Absolutely delicious. Wish I could find a case peferctly stored like this one was.
