A satisfying day! Mix bags of some excellent wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne.
Followed by a 2009 Burgundy tasting event organized by Artisan Cellar. The line up spread across the Cote de Nuits and one Cote de Beaune. Henry generously opened another 2bottles of white wines to share with us and sharing his view of Bio-Dynamic wines. A truly great session here.
Continue at Ed's place for 3rd round, more 2009 white Burgs! Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is really a star to watch.
2009 Jean-Jacques Vincent Pouilly-Fuissé Château de Fuissé Vieilles Vignes 90 Points
France, Burgundy, Mâconnais, Pouilly-Fuissé
Alcohol :: 13.5%
From 40 - 60yrs old vine. Light golden. Popped and poured. Intensely nose with honey and sweet yellow fruits core surrounded by fresh herbs and mineral. Surprisingly approachable for this cuvee, instead of the usual restraint and tightness, thanks to the warmth in 2009 which giving better ripeness for the grapes in this relatively cold region. This has plenty of fruits concentration, perfectly ripe acidity as well as soft mineral for the smooth, creamy mouth feel that formed the excellent mid palate sap which can be drunk now. Finished off with mineral, light orange peel bitterness for better nuanced. Very good.

NV Jacques Selosse V.O. Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut 93 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Alcohol :: 12%
Degorged at Aug 02, 2010. High tone aromas of honey, iron, nut and mineral wrapping up the green apple, mineral and herbs for the intense and focus aromatic profile. Superb intense on the palate with great detail and precision. I really like the balance that archive between the power, structured and richness. Everything is well in place, sumptuous mouthfeel formed by the juiciness and sweetness of fruits that supported firmly by the bright, firm acidic backbone that delivered excellent purity and depth. Long finish.

1998 Château La Conseillante 92 Points
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
Alcohol ::
Decanted for 45mins. Complex and elegant aromas of sweet cassis fruits over laced on a bed of dried herbs, leather, soil, smoke meat and perfume red and blue flowers. Silky smooth on the palate, with great delineation and soft, elegant texture that offer very good purity of sweet dark fruits, savory plum and complexity of soil, herbs and mineral. Full of nuances and the inner perfume here is really seductive. Not a wine with power, but intensity instead. This medium scale, feminine Conseillante showed excellent drive on the soft, juicy lingering long finish with a touch of sweet tannin for better grip. Yum.

1996 Moët & Chandon Champagne Cuvée Dom Pérignon 95 Points
France, Champagne
Alcohol :: 12.5%
Popped and poured. As expected this is very tight right out of the bottle. Ultra fine bubbles and very perfume on the nose, tight and highly intense on the palate. The wine slowly giving more with about 60mins of air. Intense aromas of white peach, red apple all wrapped by a touch of honey, hazelnut and butter that accompany with perfume yellow floral scents. Very attractive. This bottle is clearly showing much better than the previous, more open-knit with air. Ultra fine moose explode on the palate with care, very intense. Really lovely lushness and purity here, superb detail layer that gentle expand across the palate with massive concentration of sweet yellow fruits, green and red apple, mineral, honey and nut all blended perfectly well with the huge but fine and ripe acid backbone. Really delicious, everyone like it. This has such power but remain light on its feet and very elegance. I especially like the very fine detail finish that just goes on and on. Lovely.

1995 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 93 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Alcohol :: 13%
Popped and poured. This is almost immediately engaging right after the first sniffed and sipped. A little bit tight but the aromas here is so complex, deep and fragrance with sweet plum and blackcurrant fruits in the core accompany by layer of pencil leads, capsicum, dried flower, tobacco and soft mineral at the background for the freshness. Structured but polished with seductive soft, lush mouth feel that offered wave after wave of sweet dark fruits, herbs, tobacco, leather that firmly supported by the firm but silky tannin that giving amazing grip and tension flow all the way to the highly intense, complex detail finished with dark chocolate and mineral aftertaste. Fresh, pure and focus with razor sharp precision. This is a gorgeous Lalande that can be drunk now but will only get better with age.
