Exotic and spicy. Classic white pepper and melon nose with lots of crushed rocks and herbs on the nose. The palate is powerful and balanced. The palate has a serious weight to it but combined with the beautiful acid and mineral profile it's a great package.
Needed to be decanted before the aromatics and palate loosened up. Had nice petrichor, stone, lychee and peach tones - lovely stuff. The palate was sharp and acidity with nice tropical fruits, herbs, and white floral tones. Great stuff, but will get better with either more air or bottle aging.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Got to this about 2 hours after it was opened and I feel like I missed it. The nose was characterized by cranberry, soy sauce, spices, herbs, and a bit of teriyaki. Thought the palate was a bit tired and from what I heard from everyone else, it had faded in the 2 hours it had been opened. Oh well.
Spicy, rich nose of red fruit...especially cranberry. Usually cranberries don't come across as rich, but this seems to be an exception. Extracted nose leads to a much more reserved and elegant palate. Great spiciness and racy red fruit on the palate with nice minerality and balance. Haven't always been a fan of Rivers' style, but this was very good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
This came across as a bit tired. Had soft cranberry, dried floral and earth tones, but just didn't have much in the way of structure. With some time in the glass, the flavors began to sour a bit and I think its just past its prime. Oh well.
Had some tropical fruit and herbal tones on the nose. I guess I was a bit bummed that this wasn't more exotic, but it still had a really nice body and structure to it. Good pear, lemon, peach and herb tones on the palate. Seemed a bit awkward in its composition...wasn't sure what to make of it.

Hadn't heard of this producer before. Thought the fruit expression was cool, spicy and restrained. Its palate had nice herbal tones, some forestal tones and nice red fruit. Very nice wine.
Hello there. Wonderfully spicy nose with cranberry, dried florals, and subtle leather. Palate was medium-bodied, floral and spicy. Loved the density of flavor on the palate with a relatively airy composition. I've had some great pinots from Savoy before (from Breggo) and this continues the success.
Very nice expression of pinot. Nose is composed with beautiful cherry and cranberry tones with subtle spice. Definitely a Sonoma-type of pinot profile for me...ripe, subtly cool and spicy. The palate had dense red fruit, nice acidity and spice notes. Very nice pinot.

Good stuff. Far more lean and spicy than I had expected. The fruit expression on the palate was cool, and more cranberry than cherry (which is good for me). I don't think the palate was incredibly complex, but what it lacked in complexity it made up for it in deliciousness. Wasn't heavy or unbalanced at all. Was very surprised and impressed by this.
Seemed a bit plush for Oregon...but then again, this is my first 2008 Pinot from Oregon I can remember having. Was rooted in dark cherry fruit with subtle cola and spice tones. Palate was denser than I was expecting and probably pushed the needle for me from a density standpoint. Had nice fruit, but just was a bit too heavy for me.
Served at cellar temperature. Really loved its crushed rock, cranberry and earth profile. Awesome stuff...could drink this all day long. The palate is firm and will need time to flesh out, but it's already displaying great dark fruit, underbrush and rocks. Sweet, sweet Foillard.....
Wow. This is seriously good. Loads of earthy notes, cranberry, tomato, herbs, and fresh red florals on the nose...just textbook Jura. The palate is lean, expressive and airy. I've said it before, but wines with this airiness and pronounced flavor are exactly what I look for. This is a great bottle.
