  • Grassy, good fruit and acidity, but unfortunately lightly maderized with ever so slight of TCA. Should've been quite classic.

  • Declining; but still has some things to say. Agree mostly with MMCDDS's note from 2017. Four years on, there are still some stewed red fruit; but the mushroom and hoisin notes dominate. The acid is still hanging on, as are some (very) soft tannins. There are also dried herb and smoked wild game notes. Structure clearly helped this last so long. Great effort.

  • My last of the 2 bottles I bought on a whim at an auction, and like the first bottle, the cork was moldy and crumbly. The wine on the other hand, while bricked throughout, was a delightfully, complex melange of soft, round, stewy red fruit and an abundance of earthy, mushroomy undertones with some subtle Asian spice notes. There's also just enough acidity at its core to provide some tension that hints at what this must have been in its youth, and while this bottle really makes me smile tonight, I'll bet that this was extraordinary 10 years ago.

  • I bought a couple of bottles on a whim and had very low expectations but this bottle turned out to be a delight. This had a high shoulder fill and a wet, moldy, crumbly, loose fitting cork and moderate bricking throughout. On opening, the nose was very muted, but the palate was intriguing with delicate strawberry notes, mushroom and lots of earth. The pretty red fruit faded quickly(within 10 minutes) leaving nothing but mushroom composite, then, about 45 minutes later the nose and palate opened again with a complex intertwining of stewy, red fruit, earth, mushroom and Asian spice. Again, a real delight for a 33 year old 1er cru Gevrey with unknown provenance.

  • Friday at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage): This came across as a bit tired. Had soft cranberry, dried floral and earth tones, but just didn't have much in the way of structure. With some time in the glass, the flavors began to sour a bit and I think its just past its prime. Oh well.
