Tasted blind. Ripe nose, almost like a very ripe pinot nose with that dark fruit profile. Polished on the palate the deceiving tannins creep up on you while the inky, fountain pen finish goes on for a while. This was very different than the more rustic Tempier. Hard to pick a favorite. Very good.
This had a much different nose than the Ch. de Pibarnon, with its more rustic iron profile nose with notes of red fruits compared to the darker fruits of the Pibarnon and hints of green tobacco. Dusty tannins with dark raspberry and iron flavours. Definitely not as polished as the Pibarnon. Hard to pick a favorite. Very good.
Popped and poured and singing right out of the gate. Classic notes of sea breeze, lemon cream, minerality and hints of orchard fruit. Crisp and tart citrus flavours and a long mineral finish. There is so much acid on the palate that this was almost out of balance but as it sat in glass over the course of the evening it started to filled out and grow into the acid. Now perfectly balanced (so long as you like high acid Chablis) with even more weight and minerality. Drinking extremely well right now and barring premox, this wine has a great and long future ahead of it. Excellent. 91+ *Note: there was ¼ of the bottle left and the next day Rasoul said it was even better. Don’t be afraid to give this lots of air.
