A great night of wine and friendship, who could ask for any better in life. All of the wines showed very well, WOTN was the 69 BV GdL, absolutely stunning wine that can go a few more years based on that bottle.

• 2008 Sine Qua Non Kolibri 92 Points

  USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County

  Oily and dense. Nose of pineapple, lychee, lemon oil, mango. On the palate, very heavy with flavors of lemon curd, peaches, white fruit, and a big whack of oak. Finishes with a nice acidic lift that balances the whole package. If I had these I would be holding them for a while to let the oak integrate better. Very well made and a definite treat.

• 2005 Peter Michael Pinot Noir Le Moulin Rouge 92 Points

  Without any written notes, I am guessing on the vintage. Nose of red rapsberry, anise, black cherry, cloves, and a hint of cola. On the palate, rich and full but light and effortless at the same time with sour cherry, raspberry, anise, clove. Nice sappy transition to a crisp tart finish. Drink or hold.

• 2001 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence 91 Points

  France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

  Nose of roasted fruit, garrigue, black plum, sage, leather, roasted game. On the palate, black raspberry, roasted game, sour cherry, herbs, and licorice. Finishes very dry with sturdy tannins.

• 1969 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve 95 Points

  USA, California, Napa Valley

  Popped and poured. Right off the get go this showed a bright red fruit profile on the nose with cherries, red currants, pommegranate, herbs, and hint of leather. This keep filling in and becoming more more interesting the best sips were the last ones after the bottle had been open three hours. Bright flavors of cherry, red currant, cedar, hint of tobacco, plum, leather, and a hint of dust. Finishes with resolved but present tannins and great balance. Absolutely stunning and I might be underrating this particular bottle.

• 1985 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Martha's Vineyard 93 Points

  USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville

  Signature Heitz nose of dark fruits and mint. On the palate, a little funky at first but as it got air, it blossomed with cassis, blackberry, red currants, hints of tobacco and spice. Finishes long with great grip. This can go quite a while. Great bottle

• 2006 Sanguis As The Crow Flies 93 Points

  A very good showing for this bottle. Great nose of funk, very similar to a Cote Rotie. Nose of sour cherry, garrigue, olives, bacon fat, smoke, herbs. On the palate rich, yet weightless, with flavors of sour cherry, beef blood, blackberry, sage, black olive, anise, and a nice hit of smoked meat. Finishes long, a little more acidity and this is a home run. Would love to blind this against some bigger name Syrahs, I think it would compare very well.

• 2000 Trimbach Pinot Gris Hommage a Jeanne 93 Points

  Lovely nose of pear, apricot, organge peel, honey, and spice. On the palate, baked apple, pear, honey, apricot, white peach, spice. Finishes with great lift, nice acidity balancing the obvious sweetness of the wine. Drink or continue to hold.

Finished up with cigars and a very nice port. Can't remember the port and have no notes because the memory was no longer functioning at that time of the night.
