Nose of black raspberry, black cherry, spice, and a nice floral element. Really nice on the palate with bright cherry and spice flavors. Rich finish. Needs about five years to knit together. Bright future for this. If scoring 91-93,

Clear ruby color. Great nose of pie cherry, black cherry, spice, and Pinot funk. On the palate, surprisingly accessible with bright red fruit flavors, spice, and great mouthfeel. Well balanced finish with nice grip. Hold for at least five years but this could be enjoyed sooner. 91-93 pts.

Clear ruby color. Serious nose of Asian spice, pie cherry, and cranberry. On the palate, mostly walled off right now but some bright cherry peeks through. Nice one the finish but the tannins rule for right now. Very serious and shows a sense of place consistent the best Pommards. Hole at least 7 years, probably longer. If scoring 91-93.

3/28/2014 12:23:00 PM - Rudy & Paco is always a great choice. I haven't been to Number 13 yet, but I know the owners and they are passionate about what they do. Other friends have told me that the restaurant is struggling a bit with identity and can't decide if it is high-end or casual. The West End Restaurant is under new ownership, always go for the daily specials there, things off the menu tend to be better. Clary's is always a great choice. Avoid anything in the Landry's chain.
3/28/2014 8:23:00 AM - I will be in Galveston this weekend for the first time in years. Any new restaurant recommendations for good food/wine experiences? I have a reservation at Rudy & Paco, and I thought of trying the new Number 13. Thanks for any suggestions. My personal email is jkwright@stxsurgeons.com
