Dosage 2 grams/litre, 40 months on the lees. Fresh, clean, precise, white flowers, citrus, very dry but not austere, linear, stylish, fresh as a mountain stream.

Grey slate soil, the warmest of the Rüdesheimer vineyards, yield less than 25 hl/ha, matured in 1200 litre Stückfässer. Fine-boned, elegant rather than big in spite of the lovely ripe fruit that envelops a wonderfully lively acidity; very precise and layered, wonderful balance, marries power and finesse, smoky minerality. Delicious now, excellent potential.

Wonderfully intense bright yellow with a clear green tinge; the nose is off-dry, completely fresh, minerally and earthy, subtle note of tropical fruit; on the palate lovely fruit flavours, very good freshness and intensity, off-dry, quite linear; very good length. Fully mature, do not wait too long.

85% Carignano (old bush vines), 10% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 5% Merlot. Excellent extraction, richly tannic, red and black cherries, slightly smoky oak, spices, leather, tobacco, good concentration and acidity; very good length, eucalyptus and mint, has a lovely Sardinian rough edge to it.

85% Carignano (old bush vines), 10% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 5% Merlot. Comes across as brighter and cleaner than the 2005 but certainly not much lighter; perhaps glossier and more international in style, with a very good balance and ripe tannins; very good length.

The result of a failed attempt to produce an Eiswein - there was no frost. Harvested on 6 February 2011. But still an amazing Auslese; no noble rot, Eiswein aromatics, incredibly concentrated, sweet and fresh, excellent energy and acidity, but not the ultimate cut and precision that the actual Eiswein would have had.
