Pale in colour. Very vibrant and pretty nose of almonds, pears, and golden apples. Good amount of spritz. Slightly sweet on the palate, this is approachable and deliciously drinkable.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Tart Rainier cherries and licorice on the nose. The palate is just awesome, with tons of concentration: very gentle and though this doesn't quite have the green tension I prefer in my chardonnays (perhaps because of the riper vintage) there is still plenty of acid to corset this into shape. A hint of smokiness that a fellow tablemate described as bacon. Very long finish. Reminds me why white Burgundy is an awesome drink.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Big whiff of sulphur. Some white flowers and mineral water qualities on the nose. A very pretty and subdued palate, with a lot of lemon acidity and a bracing, steely character. Excellent stuff.

Not premoxed! Very pretty wine, with a lemon meringue pie on the nose. A little bit of sweet corn on the palate, with a delicious slightly buttery Meursault-esque texture.
Stinky as hell. Dates, shiitake mushrooms, and more than a bit of madeirization. Slghtly leathery and there's a stemmy green note -- cab franc? Not particularly interesting -- anonymous run-of-the-mill old Bordeaux.
Some lead pencil shavings on the nose. Paired incredibly well with a dijon-roasted tenderloin. Slight peppery note on the palate, but this is incredibly balanced with vibrant fruit and lovely secondary characteristics. Excellent.
Pale ruby. Very dirty, earthy nose, but very fresh and pretty on the palate. No sense of undue oxidation at all. Tart cherry and floral flavours. Great stuff -- seems like this shares a bit of DNA with Leroy, at least on the earthiness on the nose. Quite a revelation.
A really awesome and intense nose of tapenade. This is like silk and the embodiment of what syrah should taste like. Smoke, olives, roast meat... just wow.
Very syrah-like on the nose. Black pepper, blood, and definitely a ringer for northern Rhone. Does not display too much of the negative characteristics of the vintage. A good amount of balance, though perhaps thin on the acidity. Slight hint of sweetness as well.
