Les Nomades

Absolutely superb nose of brioche, hazelnuts, citrus, buttered popcorn and wet stone. Huge in the mouth. Wonderful creamy texture that coats the palate. After a few hours took on a butterscotch note. The finish lasted for minutes. Benchmark wine.

Tired and slightly oxidized on the nose. Faint citrus, stone and bit of peppermint.

Very powerful nose of red fruit, black fruit, flowers and iron. Bright red fruit. Quite robust in the mouth. Not showing it's age at all. Not necessarily a wine of finesse. Very impressive. Long finish.

Very discreet, but incredibly complex spice on the nose. Subtle red and black fruit on the palate. More spice, layered and detailed. Not as powerful as the Dujac, certainly more finesse. Long finesse.

Initially this was very forward on the nose with bright red fruit, loads of spice, tea and earth. The palate was more robust compared to the 1976 and a bit more tannic. The detail is amazing. Very complex and bright. Long lingering finish with some tannin.

Out of jero...naturally. Initially this was pretty reserved compared to the 1970 alongside it. But over 40min, this took on much more spice, red and black fruit, iron notes, nutmeg and other spices. Painfully detailed with layers of complexity I am not smart enough to describe. Fully of finesse and elegance yet plenty of power. In a stellar lineup, this was a stand out and something special. Finish lasts for hours.

Perhaps not the best bottle. Bacon, mesquite and wet bandaids on the nose and palate. A touch of black fruit. Great texture and weight, but the flavor profile was off.

Wow. You could smell this from across the table. Beautifully sweet red and dark fruit, violet, mushrooms, musty oak and iron. The palate was sweet and ripe and forward. Stunning balance and I could not get over how youthful this seemed. The other bottle was not as fresh, but this seemed younger than the 1990 we had last week. Finish lasted forever and was perfectly seamless. What a treat and thank you to all those that controlled themselves for 65 years so we could have this tonight.

Fabulously mature nose of brown spice and creme brulees. Impeccable balance and long, mouth coating finish. A treat.

From a different case than the last bottle. Deep, brooding nose of earth, iron and black fruit. Dark and concentrated on the palate. Dusty tannin. Similar flavor profile as the last bottle but not corked, obviously, and fresher. Lacked the Leroy spice and I am surprised how earthy this is given its Chambolle. Long, tight, finish. This needs a lot of time.

1966 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut

Quite a bit of sherry. Perhaps not the best example.
