  • 2010 Tenuta Guado al Tasso (Antinori) Bolgheri Superiore

    Italy, Tuscany, Bolgheri, Bolgheri Superiore

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc; dark core with garnet rim; currant, cedar, pine, green pepper; dried flowers, chewy tannin, currant; 5 more years should help a bit to smooth out the wine.

  • 2009 Argiano Solengo Toscana IGT 90 Points

    Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT

Dense dark core with dull maroon rim; reductive, meaty, tar, vegetal, floral, dark fruit, anise; soft tannin at first and then it clamps down, chalky, dense, meaty, fine tannin but some bitterness, some alcohol; a little harsh from the pnp; needs time; called '09 St. Emilion; 90+.

  • 2010 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos de La Bussière 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru

See through dull ruby with pink rim; sour cherry, floral nose, light raspberry, vegetal, white stone; fatter on the palate than nose suggests, seemingly '09 richness, sexy, mineral finish along with nice tartness; obviously from a good producer; lacks some definition right now but I look forward to what this could be, 93+.

  • 2010 Clos Marie Pic St. Loup Les Glorieuses 94 Points

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Pic St. Loup

Black core with thin bright purple rim; straight up grapey i.e. Dimetap, floral, medicinal, red and purple flower, deep, rich, youthful, garrigue; great texture, grainy, peppered beef, tea and spice on the finish, light on its feet for being so dark; reminiscent of Beaujolais but more nobility; one of the best young wines I've had this year; I need some; 94-95.

  • 2000 Fattoria Poggio di Sotto Brunello di Montalcino 94 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

See through with bricking rusty edge; nutty nose with orange oil, cranberry, light cedar, noble, fruit is leaner due to age; fresh on the palate, Burgundian in style, aged, nutty, some alcohol, cranberry, cherry, strawberry, sweet and sour fruit, soy, soft texture with a persistent finish; great stuff!; nailed it.

Dark core with thin reddish purple rim; tar, almost peppery, deep, tobacco, round, delicious smelling nose, obviously noble, nutty; smooth, rich texture, luxurious, noble, good French oak though not all new, currant, spice, fruitcake; delicious; thought this was '09 and 2nd growth level.

Closing

A really strong tasting with the weakest ones being young super Tuscans that will definitely improve with more bottle age.
