France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
tart cherry, touch of candied cherry note. red berries, velvety mid, smooth and full of earthy cherry / cherry pit (think old sour kriek). the earthy qualities are magnified with time. very young still - and in need of a few years. just plain delicious.
mature oregon pinot. the education continues! earthy but also quite brawny. Cola, hints of vanilla and black fruit. mid has a touch of balsamic note, deeply savory, rich fruit, a hint of warmth at the back. finish is ripe, rustic, with hint of tartness and spice.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Funky (touch of VA?), ripe black fruit on nose. violets, chewy mid with good acidity. sweet black fruit (plum) toward the back. some herbs and spice. pepper on the medium long finish.

lovely nose of apples and fresh bread. light mid with citrus and lemon rind. mineral-driven and refreshing. long finish with a touch of grapefruit.
