Identical to my previous notes. Rich and fresh, seamless and silky, harmonious, an excellent expression of the Grand Vintage style and of the vintage itself.
Very expressive and typical for Marlborough but not over the top, blackcurrant and mango, restrained pyrazines, quite elegant, harmonious, rounded, ripe but fresh acidity, pure flavours, very good length.
Wonderful tension between ripe fruit, crystalline acidity and wax; complete and rich, develops a hint a Eiswein apples, long and intense, with lots of potential.
Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
Fresh and vibrant bright lemon colour with a green tinge; lemon, spice, steely freshness, excellent wood integration, sea breeze, lovely depth; steel and creamy lemon, elegant weight of fruit, savoury note, lovely mineral drive; very good length.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Still quite closed on the nose, slightly reduced, lemon, mineral, floral top notes; elegant and tight style, crisp and youthful, relatively dry, mineral intensity; good length.
Rich nose, herbs and lemon, good integration of spicy oak, very good depth, opens up well; remarkably crisp acidity, juicy and vibrant, creamy lemon, elegant, more elegance than the nose announces, intense flavours; good length.
Light colour, mature but lively appearance; smoky nose, stalks, sous-bois, hint of rosehip and cranberry, opens up to roses; light and elegant palate, just avoids thinness, lovely balance and freshness, firm but mature tannins; very good length. Not an easy wine, but I like it.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Good depth of colour, youthful appearance, rich and lively; typical rich and warm Corton character, on the nose, ripe fruit, warm spice; rounded and powerful palate, firm tannins but not drying, has balance and drive; good length.
Classic claret, ripe black fruit, excellent balance and weight, perfectly integrated oak and tannins, a wine of poise and harmony, firm and energetic, excellent length.
Deep tawny; expressive nose, plums and spices, sloe gin, nuts, liquorice and coffee; the palate is fresh but intense, concentrated but elegant, medium sweet, slightly salty, tangy acidity, flavours of liquorice root and coffee; very good length. Not terribly complex but incredibly lively for a 76 year old wine.
