Pre-bottling tasting at the domaine. Bottling scheduled for tomorrow. ML did not finish until Sept 2014. Bright red fruit with savory spice and fresh herbs. Elegantly textured. Nobody consistently produces better Vosne Villages.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Tasting at the domaine. Bottled two weeks ago. Slightly reductive start. All red fruit with the spice that makes me love Vosne. Oops, this isn't quite Vosne. Lots of power and tannins on finish with a rich, opulent middle. Very good.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Tasting at the domaine. Red and black cherry with great density and intensity. Background spice throughout with vibrant energy. This is my style of wine, 95+ point potential for me.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Barrel tasting at the domaine. From new oak barrel, with final assemblage to be approx 40% new oak. Black and red cherry with big spice. Looking forward to the final wine.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Barrel tasting at the domaine. From new oak barrel, with the final assemblage to be 60% new oak. ML done in January 2015. Slightly reductive start made this tough to fully assess, but there is impressive power and finesse coming through from middle to finish.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Barrel tasting at the domaine. This is a head turning beauty. Red and black cherry aromas with slightly more black fruit flavors. Vosne-like spice and dense, meaty power and a long, expanding finish. Wow potential.
