30th Wedding anniversary with dear friends

Introduction

We have been fortunate to share an anniversary dinner with Beth and David for at least 20 years. They have been so kind to include us and we get to all share in our cellars for great dinners. Tonight was no different as the restaurant created a great meal around the wines we brought.

Flight 1 (1 Note)

Amuse: Caraway Gougeres, Peekytoe Crab Crostini, Black Truffle Croquettes

Burrata salad - Endive, Pear, Cara Cara

Flight 2 (1 Note)

Foie Gras Brûlée

Flight 3 (1 Note)

Whole Roasted Romanesco - kumquats, daikon, brown butter Maitake - turnips, nori jam and shallot miso

Flight 4 (1 Note)

Rack of lamb - braised beluga lentils, tarragon

  • 1986 Château Mouton Rothschild 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Great color, decanted for 2 hrs and could have used 4 more. Initially tight tannins but clearly was ready to open over the course of lamb chops. Cedar box, earthy, mushrooms. Great finish and still a baby.

    Greece, Aegean, Cyclades, Santorini

    Good caramel color, spicy palate, sharper finish, sweet spot for tonight's 30th wedding anniversary for very dear friends.
