First wine was a Clos Vougeot 1990, missed the producer:

Light & wistful Some sweet core, a little acidic warmth. Nice & smooth, but not really my thing.

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

  Massive huge nose. Deep. Grabs your attention, yet delicately perfumed. Layer on layer. Amazingly complex, so concentrated but so silky, so obviously great. Grabs you. Amazing balance. Power and delicacy.

  Nice fruit. Lots of vanilla & nutmeg. Stops short of complex. Very appealing, very sweet. Too strong on its strengths.

• 1961 Château Latour Grand Vin

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

  Fresh if not young. Layers on layers. Smooth with nice Bordeaux age, band aid. Lots and lots of herbs. Subtle. Mellow. Not massive, but smooth. Compelling. Very complex, very very long. A pleasure.
