A private dinner (Restaurant Comme Chez Soi ***, Brussels, Belgium): This is some wine! Old gold colour; amazing nose of peach, oak, honey, nuts, hint of Cognac, unsurpassable depth, raisins, fresh, sublime intensity; on the palate like a great BA, incredibly elegant in spite of its 14.8% alcohol, fabulous concentration, extract and length; finishes with nuts, straw, apricots, acacia honey. Seemingly endless.

Rhône Tasting-cum-Lunch (Restaurant Rijsel, Amsterdam, NL): Half bottle. Deep and rich, excellent concentration, dried fruit, dates, figs, lively acidity, lovely tension, honey, full on sweetness, great length.

I like this quite a lot; apricot, honey, a very grapey finish which stands in stark contrast to Sauternes. Long and serious; great depth.

Excellent dessert wine. Concentrated and full. I'm starting to recognize my pension for top quality desert wines.
