Every participant had to bring a wine of the theme. We did not know which wines were brought by the others. All wines were tasted blind, also without knowing when the wine you brought was poured.

• 2007 Cantine Pervini Segna Vento Tarantino IGT 80 Points

  Very ripe red fruits, almost boiled. On the palate a lot of ripe cherries. A bit lactic. Also a bit like lemonade. Firm acidity and bitterness in the finish. A bit edgy.

  Strange bouquet. A bit musty. Mushrooms. And although this often adds to the complexity, in this case it is meant negative. The taste has the same problem. There is some eucalyptus and peppermint, ripe fruits, soft tannin and bitterness. Impossible to recognize this as a CS, even while I knew that it was. My score is not even that bad, because the wine offered a wide spectrum of tastes. Nevertheless I will not buy this wine again. Even though it is from 2003 this wine is probably too old already.

  Young and round. Very ripe fruits; dark cherries, plums. Medium bodied. Ok acidity. The tannin give the wine a good bite.

  Reasonably complex bouquet with e.g. cherries and pleasant oak. Very tasteful. Juicy good cherries, firm and good tannin and soft bitterness in the finish. Will improve with a few more years of ageing.

  The bouquet is mature and has a little barnyard. The fruits are soft and ripe. There are many spices and herbs. A little sweetness. The tannin and the bitterness from the oak make the wine a bit edgy.

  Mature and beautiful bouquet. Eucalyptus, mushrooms, earthy, leather. Mature and good, soft tannin. Full bodied, harmonious, long finish and ready now. No real hurry, but no reason for waiting any longer.

  Full bodied, very ripe black fruits. Lush. A lot of good acidity and bitterness. Even though it is concentrated, the wine is elegant as well. Very well composed wine.

  Complex bouquet. Mature but certainly no too old yet. Full bodied and juicy. Ripe red fruits. Autumn forest. Well, not really superb, but certainly a nice surprise. Still very much alive and kicking. The score tells it all.
