  • 1998 Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux

Unfortunately drunk straight after the Bogle. Youthful, pale color. After some hours it opens up, nose becomes more complex and mineral notes occurs. Length was also good. Has several years ahead but I doubt it will improve. Interesting experience though.

  • 2007 Franz Hirtzberger Riesling Smaragd Singerriedel 94 Points

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

Clear, medium-light yellow color. Wonderful complex, fully developed nose driven by mineral notes, herbs, with almost no petrol.
At the edge of being dry, I assume around 9g residual sugar, so it tends to be a bit “off-dry” but I really liked it. Massive power, complex (fruit, botrytis, mineral, salt), pressure on the palate, long finish. Great wine at the beginning of its drinking window which will last for several years and I think it will continue to improve.

  • 2002 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Chambertin 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru

Wonderful deep red color. Very elegant, youthful/developing nose, fruit, soil, iron.
It was really infanticide to open this bottle at the moment. The great potential is always present, but not yet fully developed. Fine, very elegant, enormous pressure, complex aromas, still driven by primary fruit. Very long and fine finish. Great potential for 20+ years, where this wine will definitively improve.

  • 1999 Château Angélus 91 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Quite young, starts reaching it’s drinking window. Nice fruit, complex, medium+ length, will certainly continue to develop.

  • 1994 Château Canon-la-Gaffelière 91 Points

France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

Nose quite muted, but on the palate it was much better with lots of extract sweetness, fruit, fine-grained tannin, good acidity. Long. Guess it is at its peak, but will stay there for some more years.

  • 1987 Heitz Cellar Cabernet Sauvignon Bella Oaks 92 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford

Intense, youthful, deep ruby red color. Nose muted. On the palate this wine is a stunner:
Extract sweetness, fruit, eucalyptus notes, elegant, velvet tannin, perfectly ripe. This perfect bottle would certainly stay there on this level for some more time.

  • 1990 Cantina Boschis Barolo Riserva 91 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Medium garnet red with some fine sediment. At first nose was closed, opened up over time, I guess it still needs to be decanted. Classical Barolo, lots of pressure, powerful tannin and high acidity still beautifully integrated, still lots of fruit, long finish. Maybe a bit past peak, but still lovely to drink.
